Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream

So I just purchased this product a couple
of weeks ago and it's been the only leave-in
I've been using after my co-washes.
I like the way it goes on...
I LOVE the way it smells...
it's like a souffle, but it dries hard like a gel.
It bothers me that directions say do not use
on new growth.

Anybody else have good/bad experiences with
Cantu Shea Butter Leave in Conditioning Repair Cream ???

I bought the stuff, used it once and will never use it again.
It also made my hair very very dry and hard BUT it did make my curls pop very nicely. The dryness was just too much for me to continue using it for myself.
I use it occasionally on my children's hair and it works nicely for them.

I had the same experience. I just knew i was going to love it---the consisenty was so soft, like a marshmellow , it glided on so easy, you could tell it had a good amount of oil in it, it smelled so good---my hair felt so moisturized with it while it was wet. Then it dried hard and kind of dry :nono:

Seems like it might be good if you wanted a braidout or twistout with some hold, but didnt want to use a gel with glycerin like Fantasia because you wanted a dry look----but besides that  I tried to use it for my edges since it hardened like that--but it was crap for that also. I ended up throwing it away.

I didnt think it had that much protein in it.

I've used it before. I liked the product but I don't use it as a leave in on my hair. When I tried, it left white crap all through my hair. Also, it doesn't mix well with other products. I used it for co-washing and then rinsed it out. It did work well on my curly weave though. It refreshed the curls when I added it to dry hair and left it in. I'll probably use it for that during the winter months if I wear that hair again so I won't have to re-wet it in the mornings.

Yep...i have this product as well.
At first, the solution to the hardness was to comb it through while wet with a dab of africa's best oil and my hair never felt softer...i guess the combing helped the distribution.
After a while, even combing didnt help the dryness plus i wasnt comfortable with combing my hair everytime i co-washed/washed.

On the positive note though, its the BEST styling aid i use for bantu sets and braidouts...as someone else already said, it really does provide hold and my hair turns out real shiny when i use it...i plan on using it exclusively for this purpose from now on. :)

HTH

I used it, smelled great, made hair soft, but it had left horrible residue and curds in my shower lmao!!!

The leave in grease ? with the applicator tip is off the chain... but greasy.

It does leave a weird residue in the shower!!!
I do like it for my edges... but that about it...
I really love the texture & smell of it... such a shame.
When my hair gets hard like that... I do get paranoid.
I'll go back to Salerm21 or maybe try Lacio Lacio.

My dd's use it for bunning, and it smells fab but it does leave the most gawd awful clumps. Their hair seems to be doing well with it though so I just have them add another poo day through the week to keep the build up from getting out of hand.

I have this and for me it sucked as a leave in although I really wanted to like it. Then I finally thought of deep conditioning with it and it became a staple. I like to mix it with porosity control and honey to make it super moisturizing.

I absolutely love this stuff-it has been a staple for me when I was relaxed and since I've been natural. I find that when used in small amounts " quarter size or less" distributed throughout the hair w/ a moisturizing leave-in-it gives your hair a nice moisture/protein balance (i also seal w/ evoo) and makes it very strong. A little truly goes a long way with this product :yep:

I use it sometimes as a leave in, but I find it does NOTHING for my hair:rolleyes: in comparison to Cantu Strengthening treatment. Now that stuff is no joke! That leaves my hair verrrry hard and dry, so I only use it if I have not used any protein during washing and conditioning.

For those who find Cantu Shea Butter Leave In to be drying, try using it after washing with no use of protein products :yep:

ITA with the bolded! :ohwell: The DC idea sounds interesting though! May try that. How does your hair feel after the rinse-out? This is one of the prime products I thought about in Supergirls thread about feeling good vs benefiting. It seems with all those yummy ingredients :lick: that Cantu Leave-In should be the ish for everyone, BUT look how many people had horrible result! :perplexed

I really really do want to like it...
I think if I seal my hair will oil afterwards it could work
but I'm still concerned about why the warning label says:
Avoid applying any styling or conditioning product directly on new growth.
Why would it say that????

It says that?!! O wow, I didn't even notice. Doesn't the tub have other things on it pertaining to hair care in general?

My hair :love this stuff. It makes my hair very moisturized and I use it daily by itself. Sealing with oil just makes my hair crunchy.

I suppose this is another example of 'Everything ain't for everybody":ohwell:

I never noticed the warnings because they're written on the side o the bottle. I've never had any adverse effects from using it on my new growth. In fact that's where it works best.

It was ok, I didn't love it. I'm going back to my Garnier Frutis sleek and shine leave-in. That stuff is amazing!!!!!!!!

I love this stuff. It smells sooooo good. I apply it to my dry hair in the morning and add a bit of carrot oil to it.

I tried to like this stuff. It does smell good.

Like other people have said, when it dries it leaves my hair crunchy feeling, and it doesn't feel moisturized AT. ALL. It also leaves this white globby stuff in my hair.

Definite miss.

I'll give it to my sister. It works for her.

I recently bought it but have yet to use it. The comments in this thread especially the "no use on new growth" is scaring me:nono:

I love this stuff!! As you can see in my siggy... :look: I haven't had any dryness with it or clumps. I section my hair and use a little bit on each section and make sure that I rub it in. Makes my wash and gos look fabulous. :drunk: I use it alone or with Fermodyl 619 or Cantu Grow Strong Strengthening Cream. As far as the warning not to use on newgrowth, my friend who is relaxed is the person who told me about this product and she loves how soft it makes her new growth and hasn't had any problems with it.

I love this product a whole lot! I use it for phony ponies or wet buns AND more recently roller sets. I have the most beautiful roller sets with this product. I just use this and nothing else and my hair dries moisturized and shiny but not a greasy shine, just a healthy, sheeny sort of shine, lol. My hair felt and looked great with it. My only complaints about is that it does leave some residue in my hair around the roots with the rollersets. Also I don't like the smell at all. It almost smells kind of fishy to me and I'm always self-conscious that other people will smell it on me.:nono:

I don't get the "fishy" smell AT ALL... that's scary.
One of the reasons I like it and don't want to give
it up is because it smells good.. like coconut...
doesn't smell "fishy" at all to me... anybody else?

I use it and it doesn't smell fishy to me at all. I'm still wondering about the "do not use on new growth" warning.

I use this and LOVE it. It do get that weird sort of coconutty-fishy smell. I thought that it came from not-so-fresh hair.

I use this as a daily moisturizer, leave-in on wet hair for any style (rollerset, bunn, etc). I get no clumps, goop, flakes, or whiteness.

This is a staple for me.

i thought about purchasing this but after the build up and residue issues i read about on here i purchased the oil moisturizer instead. does anyone use this?
