Can't See Newgrowth

So I was planning on relaxing thursday but the problem is when I bun my hair my newgrowth 'disappears'. So I have two questions/concerns. I was wondering if any other ladies have the same problem during touchup time? If so what do you do to clearly see newgrowth/or what do recommend?

Well I wish I had that problem.

When it is really time for me to relax, my NG cannot be tamed for more than a few hours.

It will pop back :creatures no matter what by the time I need to relax.

No bunning, moisture, scarf or gel can hold it back. :drunk:

maybe i fyou spray a litle water on it it a couple of hours before you go the relaxer so the new growth will puff up abit. i think i read that advice from a recent thread, hth

An advantage of stretching is having more NG, so when it's time to relax there is NO hiding the NG! This is what I've done: wash my hair a couple days before I plan to relax and let it air dry -- doing absolutely nothing to smooth down the NG, so I can easily see it as well as feel it when I apply my relaxer.

So you condition the day you relax; wouldn't that prevent the relaxer from penetrating thoroughly?
No.I dont condition the day of relaxer
like whenever im just washing my hair i look at my new growth and the method is just me condition my hair and feeling and looking at my newgrowth with a camera or mirror is that clear enough sorry if i didnt make enough sense babes!

Your NG sound like a superhero protector.

How long has it been since your last relaxer? Is it breaking or shedding excessively? If it hasn't been that long since your last relaxer and it's not breaking or shedding excessively, I'd stretch it out for a couple more weeks.

Smartypants and Honeydew I've been stretching for about 14 wks! This happens every single time I relax my hair making it harder for me to apply the relaxer. No I'm not experiencing any extreme shedding or breakage, probably less than average, but I don't want to experience any either. The thing is as soon as I put my hair in a bun no matter wet or dry I can no longer see the newgrowth. So I guess I will try wetting it before and see what happens. Hope this helps.:look:

Do you think wearing it in a looser bun for a few days night do it? Yeah 14 weeks you should be able to feel your NG.

You know the crazy thing is I have like dang near two inches of newgrowth. I can clearly see it when it's wet or even when it dries with no product, but after that. Rollersets nor buns help. So I think I will wet the hair let it dry and then relax. I wonder if any other ladies experience this?
