Can you only pineapple your hair with naturally curly hair?

Why would you even NEED to pineapple if your hair is relaxed. The reason for doing it is to keep the curls from flattening so that in the morning your hair is somewhat intact. There's really no need to do that with relaxed hair. Just make a ponytail on top of your head.

Because I wear roller sets all the time and want my curls to last

*CherryPie* lol, naturals aren't the only ones who wear curls! I also wear flexirod and rollersets like the OP stated.

OP, I'm relaxed and I pineapple every time I wear a flexirod set, and sometimes with a bantu knot out, braid or twist out. In fact I even did a blog post about it showing how I am able to make my flexirod sets last for an entire week and still look good. So to answer your question, nope...we can do it too!

 I'm not saying that naturals are the only ones that do it. I'm just saying that I don't see the point of someone with relaxed hair doing it.

When my hair was relaxed, if I did that it wouldn't have made too much of a difference. The curls would flatten with you pulling them up that way.

Did your hair still look nice?

I pineappled when relaxed, I just didn're know there was a name for what I was doing. I would do it when my flexi rod or pin curl set was too tightly curled. Worked better than wrapping because that would make my curls too flat. Just try it and see if it works for you.

I think the flexi rods last longer than curl formers I'm lucky to get 4 days of nice looking curls by day three in pushing it, it's just flexi rods take longer and I can't seem to get to root

I also pineappled/high pony tailed to keep my curls when relaxed. I would make sure to wear my bonnet instead of my scarf.

I want to attempt to do it but scared the bottom is going to come out straight and ends curly

Then you can pin curl the back 1/3 - 1/4 of your hair and pineapple the rest. The middle will be slightly stretched, but not much, and your hair will be voluminous.

I did it when I was relaxed. I didn't even know there was a name for it back then or that it was even common. I just happened to try it once and realized it worked wonders. I only did it when I had braid outs, bantu knot outs or roller sets. My curls would stay in tact for about two weeks.

Hmm I like this idea. I don't do curly styles anymore because I can never get them to last. Maybe I'll give this a try and see of the curls last longer.
