i'm a biiiig time PJ, so i'm worried that buying a Pibbs 514 is just another PJ purchase that i won't use.

- or that i'll be horrible at rollersets or do them infrequently
- or that doing rollersets will make my hair break-off (heat damage)

am i crazy? or just get it? (it'll actually cost me nothing!)

should i get it? sell me on why/why not. cuz i'm going bananas. :drunk:

get the pebco instead...i've heard nothing bad about this thing.

take the $$$ you save and get some hair products, you junkie you.

i haven't heard much about the Pebco...and thumbing thru all the research here would take days. i've only got the free $$$ til Feb 28th.

do you have a Pebco? have you heard its just as good as the Pibbs?

yep - i'm a total junkie!!! :yep:

nope, I have a Babyliss Thermal Ionic because I mainly needed a standup dryer for DC purposes. I got it on sale during Cyber Monday for $80, so I saved $60 vs the Pebco:

I don't rollerset enough for the Pibbs (although I will more than likely get the Pebco when that time comes). I talked myself into not buying one until I was rollersetting at least twice a month, which means cold weather, and this winter I am hiding my hair with braids. Basically, I bought myself at least another year to go without it.

Here is the Pebco:

I bought the Pibbs so that I wouldn't have buyers remorse, because I didn't get a top of a line dryer. It drys quick, and is very well made.

Maybe you should practice rollersetting before buying.

If you think you're not going to use this then I say don't buy it.

I bought a used Pibbs off Craigslist for $75 bucks from a stylist that was upgrading her salon

I don't have one, but I would say there's really no point in buying one if you're not a rollersetter already. However, if you're getting if for free.....you can always sell it later!

^^^I totally agree with everything Solitude said.

Not gonna happen. I do a roller set every so often, but it's still worth it, IMO, for my twice a week DCs. Great investment.

DON'T!!!!!
but i'm confused....you said it'd cost you nothing??? you're getting it for free??

I don't understand the "free $$$" thing. If it would cost you nothing, why not just get it?

I have never used it for rollersetting but for deep conditioning or oil conditioning. It can't be beat.

I KILLED all of my thermal caps including the one you heat in the microwave. This does the trick including the once in a while time I use Aphogee treatments.

Now my DSD uses it also. I am being honest, I dont' see a downside because of the usage.

I am looking at it now and waiting to use it for curlformers, but I refuse to do that process until it stops raining here in SoCal.

I would, if I could, but I cain't, so I aint.
Where did that come from, I haven't said that in about 35 years. :lachen:

You're on your own, sista......I've been trying to talk my own self off that ledge!

hahaaa!!! well, i did it. i already bought it. can't wait for it to get here.

for those of you who use it for DC - at what temp do you set it? i heard it should be at 50 for rollersetting - i'm assuming that's celsius?

nope, i didn't steal a credit card. lol :) rewards points from work!! yaaay!!! i was thinking about using the free money for something other than a pibbs - buttttt after all the positive pibbs comments, i just did it. and i don't think i'll regret it!
