Is it bad for the hair to use the hard core aphogee right after a relaxer ?

How and when should one use this protein conditioner?

Please school a newbie!

As far as I know you are supposed to use it before your relaxer and a light protein after. Some examples would be the aphogee 2 min, cpr, keraphix..... I do read people on the board using it at the next wash if their hair was underprocessed.

I was going to start a thread about this. but I thought about it and it makes more sense to do it before the relaxer

How long should it be done before a relaxer? I am planning on relaxing at home this go 'round and I want to make sure that everything turns out well. If I'm planning on getting a relaxer on Saturday is it too late to do an Aphogee hard treatment tonight? And do I need to wash my hair in order to do that? TIA.

You would need to wash it out. Definitely do not try to comb it out. I think you are supposed to wait 72 hours between a wash and a relaxer.

I thought you do deep conditioning after relaxers? and the protein before? No?

I think that relates to using shampoo. I'm usually able to cowash up until the day before a relaxer and be okay, but I can't scrub/clean my scalp. I can't remember if you need to shampoo your hair before/after using the aphogee treatment?

Aphogee users tend to use it either a week before (the streghtne the hair before a relaxer, as a relaxer breaks hair down) and/ or after (to rebuild hair/ strenghten it) after the relaxer. I have tried using the strong aphogee right after a relaxer and IT BURNS!!! I DO NOT RECOMMNED DOING THIS! It is best to use a mild protein right after (like an ORS Conditioner) and then do the strong Aphogee a week later.

HHG!

I have never shampooed my hair after Aphogee. but a moisturizing DC is a must after aphogee.

I first did this like 2 years ago, most times I do it after relaxers, but not all. I read about a couple of other people doing it before I tried. Alot of people do recomend that hair is to fragile right after a relaxer, and that you should do it a week before, then go w/a light protien and moisture, then if you want do it a week or two later.

Also if you really want protien after a relaxer you can do the protien before neutrilizing thing...aphogee 2 min for 5 min. before neturilzing.

Anyway, heck yes it can burn :nono:

But my relaxing is like an all day thing. So before I do this, I've been having thick moisturizing conditoners in my hair for like 5/6 hours and have probally did a clear rinse and black rinse on my hair.....The only time it burns for me is if I relax, neutrilize, conditon w/something thin like ORS pack for like 30/45 then go straight to that.

I did all the time with no issues.

I did it right before and right after.

It'll sting any place you burn.

It'll also cause reversion -immediately. IF your hair didn't process. Rather than when you do it a week later. :lachen:

It'll also keep your hair...on your head. :look:

So are you saying I can do an aphogee treatment tonight and be okay to get a perm on Saturday?

When I was relaxed, I used the hard Aphogee a week after a relaxer was done.

I do the hardcore aphogee one a week before my relaxer. On the relaxer day I use a mild protein reconstructor after I reutralize and then I do another mild treatment the week after I relax. I repeat the hardcore one @ 6 wks post.

I've read on other threads you shouldn't do hardcore protein treatments right after the relaxer...:nono:. There's also more information on this one:
