There are some folks around here who have gone solo in cutting off their relaxed ends. If you really want to do it, and you've thought long and hard about it, take the scissors and go to town.

If I were doing it, I would airdry or blow dry my hair (probably blow dry---but if you airdry, you might be able to see the new growth better), and then I would section off my hair into probably 4 sections, and then, I'd try to cut the same amount off each section.

You could also braid your hair into 2-4 braids, and cut each braid a little at a time, until you've cut off the desired amount. You could also get someone to help you, especially with the back of your head, if you don't want to pay a hair dresser to do it.

By the way, how much are you cutting off?

i did and it didnt turn out bad at all. my link is in my profile. the front is a little bit uneven because i underestimated my new growth. i had more than i thought. but you cant tell cuz i always wear it curly. but to my suprise the back is very even. just think hard and clear b4 you do though. good luck!

I did the big chop myself.

My husband will never forget walking into the house to find me chopping my hair off

I cut it wet (the only time I have and probably ever will) because I could see exactly where the curly hair met the relaxed ends. Taking one section at a time, I cut right below the relaxed ends, slightly into my curly hair so there wouldn't be any relaxed hair left.

I thought it wasn't hard at all, and I felt much better without having to deal with the two textures.

Ok, I settled down and scheduled an appointment w/ my stylist to cut my hair. I'm just gonna let her blow-dry and flat-iron it and then cut it into a short halle style. This will basically be cutting off most of the relaxed ends. I was worried about doing it myself because my new growth is uneven because of #1, it just grows unevenly, or #2, my relaxer applications were enevenly applied (I bet it's the latter).

I can't wait to feel my ends tomorrow!!!! Also, I'll start posting pictures on fotki and give ya'll the link.
