Re: Can anybody suggest a good clarifying shampoo.
My favorites are L'anza deep cleansing shampoo because it doesn't leave my hair feeling stripped and Frederic Fekkai's Apple Cider rinse which makes my hair so soft and detangled.
I use Elucence Volume Clarifying Shampoo. It has Sodium Myreth Sulfate in it (according to the bottle it's derived from coconut oil). It leaves my hair soft and clean feeling (not stripped). A little goes a long way since it's so concentrated. You can find it at pleasantimage.com.
i LOVE the Elasta QP Bodiphying Shampoo! i hadn't owned a clarifying shampoo before this one. a sample of it came with something else i bought. i'm hooked! it doesn't strip your hair, and it's very reasonably priced (like $2.99 a bottle).
I usually only use it for the first wash and then follow with my normal (moisturizing) shampoo.
However if you really need a deep clarifying shampoo to get all of the dirt or grime out, you may want to use it more than once and then follow it with your conditioner or normal shampoo. It's really up to you.
i usually always follow up with the Nizoral, and occasionally with the moisturizing shampoo then the Nizoral. it depends on how much time i have to work with.
As a rule of thumb I like to use it approx once a month.
It depends though. If you know you've used alot of stuff on your hair recently, oils, gels, whatever then that's a good time to use it. Afterwards you know it worked because your hair should look and feel lighter and 'cleaner' It makes your normal conditioners more effective too I've noticed. (At least when I use the clarifying poo I mentioned).
Re: Can anybody suggest a good clarifying shampoo.
On the subject of clarifying shampoos I still use a tip I learned from one of the old hair boards. I simply add baking soda to my favorite shampoo. It cuts product residue from my hair, leaves it fresh and avoids me having to buy a seperate shampoo to use for clarifying.

fletgee, that's a cool suggestion. You wouldn't happen to go bald after that, would you? lol How long have you been doing that, and does it make your hair feel icky afterward?
