I absolutly LOVE this serum!!! I REALLY like it when used with a moisturizer and I seal with this. But can this be used as a moisturizer alone if I just wanted to use this???

No, serums have silicones, and can't penetrate the hair shaft.
But it depends on the ingredients. If it has glycerin, then maybe; but i don't think many serums do. :yep:

^^basically what she said. Serums can't "moisturize" because they don't penetrate the hair shaft due to the 'cones. They are great for sealing in moisture, however, like after a CW or your regular moisturizer (glycerin and water mixed, as in S-Curl is an example of a moisturizer).

They also seal out moisture, for use after a press/flat-iron where you want to lock moisture out of the hair, because it will cause frizziness/swelling of the hair shaft. That's one reason why Sabino Moisture Block (example of a serum which is essentially various forms of silicone) and Chi Silk Infusion are two very popular and efficient hair serums for after flat-ironing/pressing.

CO-signing.

I have used them that way, but ONLY after a Co-wash and applied while hair was still 20% damp. It didn't moisturize my hair, but sealed in the water and moisture from my co-wash (though you can't truly "seal" your hair 100%).

I don't think of serums as moisturizing; however, I don't "get" when people say that serums can't penetrate the hair shaft....they don't just sit on top of the hair, at least not on top of my hair.....

In that case, the only thing that is moisturizing is moisture, *aka* water. Anything that keeps your hair soft, or keeps it from being dry is moisturizing, IMO.

Anyhow, once something becomes a popular opinion on LHCF, everyone regards it as hard-core science.
