I have made the decision to transition. Right now I am about 7 weeks post relaxer which isn't much at all. I have a little over 1/2 of new growth. I believe my texture has changed from childhood but I am not quite sure. For those of you who wear your hair straight often which iron do you recommend? Right now I have an ionic ceramic but looking for something else that wouldnt be as harsh on my hair if that is possible. thanks for any ideas

A lot of people don't like it, but I love the maxiglide. I have had it for almost a year now and I have no complaints. My hair is natural and it gets my straight, my mom even asked me if I relaxed my hair the last time I straightend it.

I have the best results with my hot comb. I spent a lot of money on my ceramic and my sedu flat irons to no avail. I cannot get my roots straight with flatirons. But if I were to go back to using one, it would be my ceramic BaByliss.

The only ceramic I've tried has been the Solia...It's ionic and has tourmaline plates so it straightens more evenly and it's not supposed to be as damaging to the hair. When I used it I found that it got my hair really straight, but still left me with great body. To get at the roots I recommend the 1" or getting a good 'ol fashioned hot comb! HTH:)

CONGRATS on your decision to transition!

I have the maxiglide but have never used it. I actually bought it to use once my sew in was out- however I ended up up Bc'ing. Many people here seem tolike the maxiglide.

I will caution you to try as best as you can to not use heat as much during your transition. When your new growth comes in, you want it to be trained to not be straight. Otherwise staightening it too much will cause the texture to change.

Good luck!

Congrats! I have the maxiglide and a Chi. I like to used a Chi when I do rollersets on the roots only and the Maxi when I flatiron the whole length.hth

Thanks for that heads up! Right now I'm HYHTJ so no head what so ever. I'm just taking a pass for my college graduation in 2 days:grin: I heard a lot of praises about maxiglide on here I'm just trying to get a consensus to see if there are other 'goodies' out there lol

I have a Sedu (half inch, I think). When I was fully natural, it got my hair straight and it would stay straight for about a week. It also took two washings to get my natural texture back. Now that I have three inches of natural hair, with the rest relaxed, the natural hair goes right back to being its original texture in one wash. I think it may be because there's not as much of it (three inches as opposed to 10+).
