I apologize if there is a thread on this in advance.....I just realized that I have fine hair. How do I handle this hair? How often do you girls detangle and how?

I am fine haired and can't seen yo make it past a little past cnl in the front. I always end up snipping due to Damage. Subbing.

Preventing tangles has been key for me. I have realized cornrows and other forms of braid protective styling isn't for me. My hair gets tangled and matted even after only a week in them. Now I rollerset weekly even though I don't plan to wear my hair out. I put my hair in pin curls all week. This keeps my hair in lose curls so no tangles when I take them down to wash. Also combating dryness and breakage with a good moisturizing conditioner is also helping.

I think i have fine hair (im pretty sure I do)... and what ive read and experienced is that low manipulation is key. so i try to do styles that dont require me to do heavy duty detangling so that i dont risk breaking my hair.

My hair is superfine. Right now I'm almost apl, was just touching bsl before I did the bc (the link to my progress before I cut it is in my siggy). I've since started relaxing again as the curly look just wasn't for me. I never really got too far past cbl before the forum. I've noticed what helps tremendously is no heat, and extremely low manipulation.

Eta: I detangle when I wash very carefully with my fingers then a wide tooth comb with a good amount of conditioner.

My hir is fine and my longest layers are quickly approaching apl. Lately I detangle ONLY when I wash..so that's once every week or two. Thats the ONLY time I actually use a comb on my hair. Before I comb, I finger detangle.

I'm natural 4a/3c and very rarely washn-go or let my hair dry w/o being braided/stretched. That's it really, and my hair loves to be drenched in castor oil (my pillow..not so much). I find that if I keep my hair oily, I don't get the spderweb tangles/dreds like I used to.

I am MBL. My hair is extremely thick in density, but the individual strands are fine. I only detangle about 1-2 times a week while straightened, very lightly using a moisturizer, oil, and huge wide-tooth comb. I only wash once per month in fall/winter to limit manipulation. When my hair is in it's curly state, I only detangle in the shower with conditioner. There is no getting a comb or fingers through the hair otherwise.

ETA: I only wear buns and put my hair up in a clip whether curly or straight. I don't touch it for days at a time for the most part (except to smooth the surface of frizzies if I'm leaving the house). Low-mani and lazy hair regi.

As has been stated, low mani. I just keep my hair in twists. It's fully detangled when in twists so there's no detangling necessary. I redo one twist at a time as I feel like it and that's when I finger-comb to remove shed hair. Otherwise, I leave my hair alone.

I have fine hair and I don't do too much to it at all. I learned this after the first year of my natural hair journey. I probably detangle once every 3-4 weeks even longer when I am in extension twists. I keep my hair in low manipulation/protective styles. I have been doing this since February. I can't wait until next February to see how much better this technique works for me.

I have pretty fine hair. I just bun & cowash. You have to be reaaally careful with the ends and the heat. Split ends are kinda... something fine haired ladies have to learn to deal with, but limiting heat helps tremendously.
