"& coconut oil is what i use to seal.. these products if i use the right portions keep my hair soft "& touchable all day... 0oh and i moisterize before i leave the house and before i go to sleep so 2x a day.. my hair DRiNkS products.. HtH =)

Aussie Moist conditioner
Hollywood Olive Oil deep conditioner (i think thats it)
NTM shampoo/silk touch leave in
coconut oil/EVOO
chi silk infusion (when ever i do flat iron my hair myself)
ORS tea tree/carrot oil

I use most of these sparingingly

I use these b/c so far I've had no problems with them.

  • Shampoos, twice a week. I love gel like shampoos. Why? Coz I feel like creamy ones leave a layer of gunk on my scalp. I use shampoos mainly for cleaning my scalp and so like a shampoo that leaves it feeling squeaky clean. I do squeeze my hair during the rinse so that it too gets cleaned by the suds as they wash away. Examples: Garnier Fructis (when I feel like my hair could use a little strengthening), Trader Joe's shampoos, Giovanni 50:50 when I just want a gentle non-stripping wash. I do use creamy shampoos (Nexxus Therappe, Elucence, NTM) after a protein treatment. :yep:
  • Conditioners, I like any that promises moisture and so don't really have a favorite:AO HSR, Aussie Deeeeep, Elucence, Trader Joe's, NTM, love the smells of Organix conditioners, Giovanni, Aveda, Nexxus, etc. For strength, Nexxus Emergencee, AO GPB are kinda my main staples.
  • ACV rinse with EOs of lavender and rosemary completes every wash.
  • I don't use leave-ins/moisturizers except when wearing my hair out. I mostly wear braids or twists. When wearing my hair out, S Curl the spray is my drug of choice.

i've come to find out my natural hair loves natural products..so mainly everything i use except conditioner is natural or comes from a grocery store

to seal i use shea butter and coconut oil..or africa's best herbal oil(only$2.00)
for detangling/conditioning i use HE HH..makes my hair is so soft..i use cheapie's like suave or white rain mixed with oil to co wash. i moisturize my hair with a homemade sprits of water oil and some cheapie conditioner(preferable one with no cones).when my hair is out, i moisture about 2x a day and seal only one of those times.i co wash about 1-2x a week and detangle 1x a week.

Since I'm in braids for the moment, I've limited what products I do and do not use. For now I'm using Komaza Care's Herbal Tea Rinse as a cleanser for my scalp every six weeks, homemade aloe vera juice/water spritz to moisturize once every two days, and a JBCO/coconut oil mixture for extra scalp nourishment once a week.

Shampoos: Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat /Jason Natural Biotin Shampoo (whole foods)
Conditioner: Herbal Essences Hello Hydration/Jason Natural Biotin Conditioner
Deep Conditioners: Moroccan Oil Intense Hair Mask, LustraSilk Shea Butter Cholesterol

Leave ins/Moisturizers/Oils: Castor Oil, Raw African Shea Butter, Coconut Oil. I mix these together using the whipper and use it as one product. Also, I use Ebene Coconut Hair Milk

Straightening: Smooth n Shine Silk n Sleek Heat Protectant/Straightener

Styling: Kinky Curly Curling Custard. I like this, but I don't use it much

MY hair: I only shampoo my hair 3 times a month, and condition wash once or twice a week. I always use the shea butter mix a little on my scalp but mostly on my hair and ends. I deep condition every other weekend with a combination of the 2 DCs I have listed. I streamlined my regimen because I realized there are tried and true basics (specific for each head of hair) and that's really all one needs.

Weave: I'm currently in a sew in, but I wash and DC every Friday. I wash more often because my hair is cornrowed under the weave and I feel it needs more attention. After i wash, I moisturize inbetween the tracks to my scalp. I use the Giovanni shampoo because it tingles.

Good luck on your hair journey and don't become a product junkie!

Nappyhead right here:

1. Rusk Deep Shine conditioner(blue bottle)---LOVE IT!!

2. Castor Oil---LOVE IT!!

3. Coconut Oil--LOVE IT!

4. Fantasia IC Gel---so so...be careful cuz it can cause crunchy hair.

I use:

shea butter, coconut oil, herbal essences conditioners and infrequently the shampoo (if my hair needs clarifying), and castille soap as a shampoo.

I bought some castor oil to try out for my oil rinses. I also plan to try out the olive oil moisturizer. my friend bought it and the ingredients looked pretty good so we'll see.

I guess I'm somewhat of a minimalist?
:)

4b fine thin hair
Shampoo: Cream of Nature or Motions
Conditioner: Keracare humecto
Leave in: NTM
Styling: GVP Silk Infusion and Avocado + Almond + Jojoba oils sparingly.

General advice: dry your hair on LOW. If you don't you'll lose all the deep conditioning you just did.

Shampoos: Biolage Ultra-Hydrating Shampoo

Conditioner: Aussie Moist, Aussie 3 min HE Totally Twisted and I use the Aphogee 2 min.

Deep Conditioners: Alter Ego Garlic Conditioner, Mixed Chicks Deep COnditioner, Morrocan Oil Hydrating Mask and Paul Mitchell's Super Strength.

Leave ins/Moisturizers/Oils: Paul Mitchell The Conditioner, Cantu Shea Butter Leave IN, Carols Daughter Black Vanilla Leave In
S-curl No Drip, Jane Carter's Twist & Lock, Elasta QP Mango Butter
Jamaican Black Castor, Emu, Olive, Grape seed and Rosemary Oil

Styling: Kinky Curly Curling Custard, Eco Styler Gel, Miss Jessie's Curly Meringue & Curly Pudding, Jamaican Twist & Lock Gel

Reggie goes a little like this depending on my schedule.
Tues Co-wash, Oil my scalp & massage. Thurs Protein Deep Condition (Paul Mitchell Super Strength) on Dry hair then Co wash+Detangle and Seal with pure castor oil on length of hair. Saturday Hot Oil Treatment, Wash, Aphogee 2 min then Deep Condition with a great mix I made of my deep conditioners.
NOTE: My Sun-Thurs product reggie depends on what I'm doing within the week but SATURDAY NEVER CHANGES.

About my hair I am really one of those mixed hair type girls with 3C in front and 4a/4b all around. I prefer the 4a/b hair better because it styles easier (holds my twist). My hair is a little Protein Sensitive. I use alot of oils because they really keep my hair moisturized. Moisture is key for me in Chicago where the wind can tear your hair up! lol. I want to use coconut oil as well as some products with sulphur but am allergic. bummer. lol I don't use only natural products because my hair actually like Cones & Mineral Oil. lol.

About me: I am a non-recovering PJ but if I were stuck on a island and cud have one of each category my staples wud be simply...
Shampoo: Biolage
COnditioner: Aussie Moist
Deep Con: Alter Ego
Leave in: Cantu
Moisturizer: S-Curl

That is all lol.

Happy Hair Growing!!!!

I try so many new products all the time but I've got two staples I can't ever be without. First there's the IC fantasia gel, which is great for smoothing back your hair into a ponytail or bun.
Then there's the Yes to Carrots C is for Conditioner. SO wonderful for cowashes. And as a leave in. This stuff even makes my 1 year post relaxer hair all happy, moisturised and tangle free. Plus the bottle is huge .
