What gives your hair "slip"? What keeps your hair the moistest and softest? What causes the least frizz? And lastly, what relaxer straightens best?

Hi Nic,

Here's an excellent thread about dealing with frizz....

I've just started using this, but Keracare Humecto gives my hair lots of slip and softness..

Also, Feria Color Moisturizing Conditioner.

Also, L'anza's Moisturizing Treatment followed by their Detangler

Those have been the best ones for me so far in terms of slip AND moisture.

As far as relaxers....I love Mizani Lye in the salon and Revlon Realistic lye for the rare occasion when my cousin does my relaxer. They both straighten quickly and effectively.

I am using a condtioner by Iman. I picked up at Wal-mart. great slip. I used on my weave and now I use on my natural hair.

I second the Kercacare Humecto. I also get great slip from Aubrey's GPB Conditioner, and Hair Mayo. Oh, and using a moisturizing shampoo helps too. Try Aubrey's Shampoos, or do conditioner washes. HTH

Blessings,
Compassion

I have to say that the Le Kair's Cholestrol and ORS Hair Mayo with an egg are great for moisture.. these products have worked wonders for my hair.

I like Le Kair's Cholestrol with some jojoba oil in it. Works great for moisture. As for the slip feel the only thing that works for me is Creme of Nature (green cap) for detangling and getting the slip feel. It's so soft afterwards that I get tempted to not use a conditioner afterwards

Also apple cider vingear rinses is good for that slip feel. I've used Affirm in the past and it's pretty good at getting the new growth straight.

Hmmm .....

Moisture only: Nexxus humectress (9/10) and Miss Key 10y1 (8/10)

Moisture and Slip: Pantene Deep Moisturixing Treatment and below the name it says Frizz Down, Herba Essences Intensive Blends Restoring Conditioning Balm and Feria Color Moisturizing Conditioner. (all 8/10)

Just Slip: Aussie Moist (10/10), Lust (8/10): I just didn't feel like my hair was moisturized.

Honorable mentions: Lustrasilk Cholesterol with Green Tea is pretty good for moisture and slip but it smells really weird.(7/10)

Before I wash my hair in the sink, I comb all my hair forward. Wash with Creme of Nature twice, but the key to having slip is not piling your hair on your head like the tv commercials which gives a mass of tangles, but I use my fingers in massage motion and allow the suds to run down to my ends. Hope this help

I like Keracare Humecto it really gives me a lot of moisture if I put it on under a dryer for ~20 mins. Best yet.

As far as slip.... I actually get better results from Herbal Essences Conditioning Balm...but that's only after my hair is dry. When its wet...that stuff does weird stuff to my tresses... they are pretty hard and there's a lot of friction on comb-thru. After the rinse and my hair dries... it just glides through my comb. (needless to say I only use this for the few weeks following a fresh perm.

I like using elasta qp, it makes my ahir feels so soft nad after frequent use i have found m hair to be much more manageable. I also like using the profectivs range, as leave ins

60 second strengthener
break free
root health
and my baby.....healthy ends

when my hair was permed, motions moisturizing conditioner gave great slip. I used Motions relaxer also. I liked the way it straightened my hair. Aussie slip is another good conditioner that gives great slip for relaxed or natural heads.I have the keracare humecto, mind you its good, but aussie slip is way cheaper, so is the Motions.Plus a little bit of them goes a ong way.

Kerastase masqueintense makes my hair soft, detangled and moisturised, but its so expensive. I also like Affirm 5 in 1 (its a moisturising reconstructor) and Keracare humecto.

The creme of nature shampoo and conditoner gives my hair lots of slip and makes it tangle free. WGO, motions moisture enhancing creme dress, and aura pomade makes my hair feel moisturized. Vitale, Affirm, Design essentials, Creme of Nature, and Revlon Realistic are good relaxers for resistant 4b hair. I wouldn't recommend Mizani, because it works better for people who have either fine, soft or less coarse hair.

Thank you everyone. Once I remove my braids I will give some of the products a try. I used to use KeraKare humecto and that was ok but not great. I guess I"m looking for "great" but it doesn't seem to exist for my hair

.

Well, thanx again.

this is a great thread. I like Pantene S&S for following up my deep conditioners, I rinse the deep condit, apply the S&S, comb through and let it sit for 5 mins and rinse. It makes my whole leave-in/detangling routine easier. . Lekair is slightly detangling and provides a good amount of slip..nothing amazing though.

The smooth intense serum was good for following up the leav e-in on wet hair... i would give that 8/10 detangling.

I like affirm over motions but I'm thinking of trying the revlon after i'm done with my tub.

Hey SweetNic, I agree with Zoya on the Motions conditioner. Keracare Humecto is good for slip but you can get better and far cheaper results, IMHO, from Motions Moisture Plus. Affirm 5-n-1 is also good and smells so yummy.

How long have you had your braids and how long are you going to leave them in?
