Caligirl's Theory on Split Ends

You know how trees and plants grow better when you trim off the dead leaves, do you think this could be the same for hair growth? I know for plants, all the water and nutrients go to the dead leaves and take away from the rest of the plant. Do "dead ends" take away the nutrients from the rest of our hair, preventing optimal growth?

No, not really. Unlike plants, our hair is dead once it exits the scalp so no nutrients are traveling through the hair shaft. Good thinking though--you are very scientific minded!

2 good points.

And even though everyone says it and scientifically I know it's not possible and hair is dead and all, I know for a FACT my hair grows faster after a cut or trim. Always has. When I permed I used to get mad because I would pay alot of money for style cuts and my hair would be the same length in a few weeks, completely grown back. But then it would stay there. Thats the only time I noticed real hair growth,.
