Has anyone used this...and if so, how did you like it?
Thanks!

I have Sweetcocoa. I still have some left, BTW. I like it for pre-shampoo treatments, however, I think you can pretty much make up a batch of something similar and get the same results. hth

It indeed has good ingredients... But I have not tried it yet. I have an unopened tube in my closet...

I've tried it but wasn't crazy about it.

I'd rather use a recipe I got from a magazine many years ago.

I mix one avocado, 1 egg white, and 1 tablespoon of baby oil, and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix throughly and leave in hair with a plastic cap for about30 minutes, then shampoo out.

Leaves hair soft and incredibly shiny!

I just brought a tube...and when I opened it, I was expecting more of a creme...it looks like 'ointment'...
So you answered my next question Armyqt...
how do you use it?

Shoot SweetCocoa I was going to tell u not to waste your money. I purchased it from a health food store YEARS ago and treated it like a deep conditioner. It did absolutely nothing for my hair. It is creamier than a conditioner and I thougth it was a waste of $$$$$!
Sorry

I knew I should of checked with you ladies first...
(the PJ in me got me good this time...darn it...

Maybe they'll take it back...
Somehow I doubt it.

SweetCocoa

If you purchased it from a health food store (Whole Foods) and haven't used it they probably will take it back! They have a 100% satisfaction gurantee. Try it it beats the $10 u dropped for it!
By the way guess what product I NOW love as a setting lotion. The New Image Thermal Styling Lotion. I only have 4 bottles. Darn it I should have been like Valley Girl and bought 25 bottles LOL!!!!!

I've tried it, and I liked it. I just moved on to another product (that contains avocado) for my pre-shampoo treatments.

I bought some last year when I was still relaxing my hair. I tried it as a pre-shampoo treatment, but didn't like it. I finished the tube by putting it on my previously relaxed hair to avoid damage from accidental overlapping when I did a touch-up.

Boy... It seems as if this product is batting zero. A lot of the ladies at the other haircare boards were displeased as well....

I tried this a while back and I thought I was the only person who didn't like it. It was sticky, gummy and smelled terrible. It didn't leave my hair feeling soft or conditioned. From my experience, I wouldn't recommend this at all.

Sweetcocoa, if you can't return it, don't worry,...all is not lost. You can incorporate it into your preshampoo treatments and your hair will benefit from it. Like I said before, you can duplicate it easily using your own mixture

Can someone post the ingredients for the Burt's Bees? I'm about to buy some Avacado butter from Cedervale and I would like to use it as a pre-poo treatment and as a moisturizer for my ends.

Thanks for posting the ingredients I think the pure Avacado Butter will be better than this product and it's cheaper, too. 1lb for $13.67!!!

Allandra are you the one that brought up avocado butter recently? That's the reason why I'm buying it you got me all curious...you're my pusher!!!

With all those good ingredients, I should be able to figure something out...

I guess I'll have to find something to mix it with... Oh, well...

If it was recently, it was likely not I, but I have been using pure avocado butter for about 1.5yrs now. The stuff is awesome...so utterly creamy!

Girrrrrrrrl, this Burt's Bees Avocado Butter is ok, but I don't like it for pre-shampoo treatments or a deep conditioner. It leaves a lot to be desired. How I've used it as a styling tool. It's good for that, but that's about it.

You should try avocado butter...much better choice

You can use it as an all-over body moisturizer (love it), use a bit as a leave-in and certainly in a preshampoo treatment.

Much Love,

Jade

P.S. Best vendors for the avocado butter....Snowdriftfarm.com and Betweenfriendstoo.com....the former is very, very creamy; the latter has a bit of grain to it, but melts tremendously once on the skin. ***I am trying Olive Butter, then Almond Butter

Thanks Jade!
Question...how do you use it as a styling tool?
I will definetly look for avocado butter...it might make a good mix with shea butter...I'm ready to make up a new batch of hair pomade...but I'll order the avocado butter first. Thanks...

Hi Ms. Jade,
I was just wondering if you've ever tried the Mango Butter from Snowdriftfarm.com? It sounds yummy! Also, when using these butters as pre-shampoo treatments, should you wet hair first?
TIA!
Jen

JenJen,

Personally I like to put them in with my hair dry because one time I put coconut oil in my hair with it damp and it made my hair so hard to comb through (I tried to comb through the cocnut oil w/ my damp hair) and I lost a lot of hair!

So now I like to add things dry unless it's a liquid oil.

Sweetcocoa,

I've used it two ways. First, mixed with a tad of aloe, basically a leave-in, then do the air dry thing. Second, smeared the stuff on my ends as double protection when I used my diffuser. Frankly, I think the second way is the best.

How do I describe it? That Avocado Butter should really be called Herbal Glycerine...not butter. It is too greasy for that. If you try it, work your way up with how much you use. Start very small.

JenJen,

It's time for you to order some Snowdrift Farm's Mango Butter

It's great..and yummy! Just a suggestion, but with it, definitely mix it with a bit of an oil or something like a drop of shea butter. It's very similar in the way you would use the cocoa butter. It is not like avocado butter.

For the pre-shampoo treatments with the exception of avocado butter, on dry hair, I always melt mine down. With wet hair, I would not suggest you use mango or cocoa butter by themselves. Both of these butters are too hard at room temp.

Cheers,

Jade

I've used the Burt Bee's on and off for about 10 years. I've never had any problems and like the way my hair reacts to it. When I use it I usually use a heating cap and I've my hair always comes out very manageable. I did like it better when I was relaxing though.
