Burn Baby Burn (Relaxer Issues)

So I did my first stretch ever! My goal was 8 weeks (baby steps)....well I made it to 10! I was so excited. I'm not comfortable doing my own relaxers yet so I figured I would go to my safety stylist, whom I never really had problems out of.

She must have been threatened by the thickness of my hair. Within ten minutes the back was burning. Fast forward, I have scabs on my sides, in the back of my hair, and in one patch in the middle of my head. My hair is sticking to the front of my hair. I guess this is just a venting post.

Help me save my hair! The stylist said my hair grew so much, I didn't have any breakage, JBCO has it all thick, but I don't want these scalp burns to cause a setback.

I am thinking of purchasing some evco and just massaging it into my scalp until wash day. I plan to wear buns until wash day. Any other ideas?

Get some ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo and re-neutralize your hair. Let it sit for a few minutes before you wash it out. If it was me I'd use a protein reconstructor like Aphogee 2 Minute to strengthen my hair and then follow up with ORS Replenishing Pak (or buy the one in the bottle).

Depending on how soon you plan to re-wash your hair? If I was planning on rewashing, I'd do a nice Oil Soak with something soothing.

EVOO, EVCO etc.....and then re-neutralize and DC with something heavy and soothing (like the other poster said).

If I was wearing my newly relaxed hair a few days, I'd just massage some of the soothing oils in, and avoid over manipulation until next wash day.

Some folks suggest Neosporin on burn areas.

Thanks for all of y'all suggestions. I plan on waiting till wash day to wash it again. But I went out and got vitamin e oil, some EVCO, neosporin, and I am just going to start from here. I did have one small section in the front that matted up from being on top of the white burned area after I wrapped my hair last night. All the strands were stuck together like one strand. I used ORS creamy aloe and then conditioned with the replenishing conditioner. It looks great. I'm just waiting on these burns to heal.

But seriously considering self relaxing from here on out. Thanks!

I was going to suggest using a holistic baby or first aid ointment on your scalp from the health food store. Things with calendula, chickweed, lavender, tea tree, neem, would be a good place to start. The evco is good :yep:

What type/strength of relaxer did she use? Does it hurt? I have reason to think that she thought cause you had thick hair that you required a super relaxer when they are only for resistant hair:nono:.

Please contact the owner of the salon and let them know what happened. Maybe they could offer to roller set and deep condition/treat your hair till your next retouch, then you could self relax. They need to know a mistake was made and be held accountable!

Ah I remember these times. I was so stupid and wanted the relaxer in as long as possible. Hope your scalp heals up fast!

Ive been there, the last time this happen my scalp burned so bad the room keep going black. these suck but oil is really good for the scabs. Main thing is dont scratch or comb your hair a few days before you use your relaxer and also use the strength you really need-dont over do it.

I think she used super too even though she shouldn't have. Yeah I am going back Saturday and bringing my own products. She wants to give me a hot oil treatment. But that will probably be my last day there. Thanks for ur input!
