I have tried the bunning method for protective styling but I get headaches and I also noticed I have a funny shaped head when I do make a bun lol. Any alternative protective styles??

Well damn Shalita what shape does your head become after you attempt a bun? Is it egg like, onion like, oblong or square? :lachen:

Sorry I had to ask that. I too get headaches from ponytails and tight banned do's. Have you tried pinning your hair up loosely with pins? When I was relaxed I used to simply whirl my hair around into a flattened bun w/bobbie pins. I used to get loads of compliments.

Usually scrunchies don't pull your hair as tight as regular ponytail holders. Also, I have a funny shaped head too. Like a hook. It would really be an atrocity if I were a boy. You can change the position of your bun, make it lower or higher, and see if you can get a more "normal" look. Good luck!

If your bun is causing headaches it's probably way too tight. Pulling your hair back tight enough to make it hurt can also put enough tension on the hair to pull it right out.

Try making a looser bun with pins instead of a ponytail holder. You can try it higher or lower to camouflage and "weird" shapes.;)

I don't think my head is shaped funny but conventional buns don't look good on me. I get lots of compliments wearing my buns low in the back or low on the side.:)

I think its more of an egg shape lol:lol:

Mine too!
But an egg with just rounded ends, no pointy bits...

ANYWAY...

That's only from one angle, so maybe no-one except youself will pick up on it, that's what I've told myself anyway.

I'm not wearing protective styles yet, am grateful of any increased shrinkage that means I don't have to ;)

Shalita and Rainbow thanks for laughing with me. Rainbow how and when did you become a thread killer?

I think everything I wear on top of my head and no matter where I place my ponytail it would eventually hurt or become a nuisance.

I use scrunchies to do buns (that always seem to be really really small..but thats another thread:lol: ) I generally wear them low because I happen to look better that way. I have a pretty round head. I also take care to not pull too tight, hence the scrunchies because they won't allow that for the most part (well they can but you have to so some serious pulling)
