When putting your hair in a bun or wearing a puff, which is less damaging to your hair brushing or raking?

I am rocking a bun right now. I tie my hair at night so I wont have to manipulate it daily...so usually I add a little product in the morning and smooth lightly with my boar bristle brush, make a ponytail, and go. But the hair around my edges seems short. I dont know if brushing is causing this or the cornrows I get periodically. If I switch to raking with a rattail will this help?

I think I read that naturals with puffs get flyaway hairs...how do you prevent that.

I am relaxed and when I make a bun, I just use my hands.

My sister is natural and when she makes a bun, she just uses her hands.

Try just using your hands. :)

What she said.

I don't use combs or brushes to make a bun.
