Broken flat iron

I received a Hana Elite about three years ago from Misikko as a gift from DH. It is a decent flat iron and at the time cost about $300. I rarely used it however, probably less than 10 times since shortly after DH bought it I started to learn more about heat damage and didn't want to overdo it. Well I plugged the iron in today, it started heating up and then the light just suddenly went off for no reason and it stopped working. Misikko said it's out of warranty so there is nothing they can do.

Does anyone know of any other options for flat iron repair? I've already purchased a different iron, but I just hate to throw this away because it was expensive and I didn't really use it that much.

Did you google flat iron repair? There is a company in N Louisiana that repairs Chi irons - perhaps you inquire about repairing your brand of iron. I'm sure there are other companies, but I stopped w/ that one.

Try calling them back again, and don't take "no" for an answer ;) If you request to speak with a manager and explain the situation, they might change their minds. Especially if you insist that you've been questioning the quality of the product and therefore might switch to another brand. Persistence is free, so you might as well give it a shot! :yep:

If all else fails, folica has a flat iron recycling program where you get $40 off a new flat iron when you send in (to recycle) your old flat iron.
details are here>>>> http://www.folica.com/features/recycle?s_cid=laurenconrad
