Bridal Shower Hostess Gifts?

Should you give a thank you gift to your bridal shower hostesses? If so, what is appropriate?

I gave gift cards. Like visa gift cards

I hosted a couple and I never got a gift. I didn't know I was to expect one. Our understanding is that it's the MOH's duty so no compensation is required. The bridesmaids do get a gift for being in the wedding.

See some of the hostesses are bridesmaids and some are family members of my fiancé. That's what made me think of it cause I'm already giving a gift to the bridesmaids closer to the wedding. Also I have hosted two baby showers and one gave a small gift but the other didn't.
