I am currently 6 weeks post relaxer. I stretch to 10-12 weeks. I am currently experiencing a lot of breakage.

Here is my current regimine:

Pre-poo : ORS Hair Mayo with every wash
Co-wash: 1 x week with Suave Milk & Honey, I also add castor and coconut oil
Shampoo Wash: 1 x week with CON Shampoo (red)
Conditioner: CON nourishing conditioner, I also use this to DC
Leave-In: Garnier Length and Strength
Moisturize: BB growth lotion and seal with EVOO

I also use Lenzi's request 2 x week to the temple and nape area.

Please help, I am a newbie looking to have healthy hair.

Hello and welcome!

I can't find much wrong with your regimen.

How are you styling your hair in between?
What's your heat usage? (if any)

So many other factors come into play with shedding & breakage as well, internal prob's could cause external probs, (diet, iron levels, etc).

I don't use heat. If I do I use it once a week and use Nexxus Heat Protexx on it. I usually rollerset my hair at night and wrap my silk scarf around it. I forgot I also take UltraNourish Hair, Vitamin B complex, and Vitamin E

This is a tough one. So far, you regimen looks good. How long is your hair and how exactly do you style it after you rollerset? Do wear it down? In a bun?

Do you clarify? You may have product buildup that may be causing the breakage.

My hair is at the nape of my neck. I got it cut 6 weeks ago. After rollersetting I leave it out, if I am going out for the night. Being that it is short it doesn' t touch my shoulders or rub against the fabric of my clothing. When I am at work or at home I just put it in a bun.

Do you clarify? Also, how long have you been experiencing breakage?

I clarify every 6 weeks and I have only began to see breakage this week. I haven't changed or added any new products to the regimine.

How does your hair feel? Does it feel very, very soft? or does it feel dry?

You may need a stronger protien based conditioner or treatment. Do you do any heavy protien treatments? If so,how often?

This also may be an internal problem as SuelteVelvet said. Are you sure it's breakage and not shedding? Is there a white bulb at the end of the hair or are the hairs different lengths?

My hair feels extremely soft. I don't have any protein treatments. This is not shedding. There is no bulb .

I am going to second the advice here and say do a protein treatment. Don't forget to follow it up with a moisutrizing treatment. Also do a search for supergirls breakage advice. Think it is called "Doing everything right and its still breaking"

The links don't work. They're saying the page(s) no longer exists.

Anyhow OP, I agree with the others; it sounds like you need a protein treatment. ApHogee Treatment for damaged hair is very good and popular on this board. You can also do a search on this site for other Protein Treatments.

Thanks...OP, I'll brb with links that work. :)

I would also suggest a protein treatment followed by a good moisturizing cond. I and some of the other ladies use aphogee but there are others. You can incorporate this in with when you clarify at 6 wks. I always clarify and do a protein treatment at the same time.
