Am i the only one who notices this when i run my hands through my hair during a dc or shampoo session. What could i be doing wrong? Im relaxed and stretching so Im about 11 weeks post touch up.

Is it Shedding OR Breakage? You said: "when you run your hand through your hair"

Have you tried different products? A different/change in your Regimen? etc...

(If it's 'Shedding') I would also recommend Black Tea Rinses to help you get through the Winter Season. It works wonders.

If it's "breakage" that's another issue that needs to be explored further.

Hair is weakest when it is wet so if you have strands that are damaged they are more likely to break when your hair is wet and you are manipulating it. The good thing is that it sounds like your damaged hair is at least strong enough not to be breaking constantly. I suggest figuring out the cause (and type) of the damage that way you can better decide what to do (i.e. more protein, more moisture, trim etc.). HTH:)

I havent had a trim in lets say 11 weeks. That may be the culprit.

Being that far into a stretch could be part of the problem, if you're not accustomed to stretching. Also, it could be the products. Sometimes your hair does better with different products later into a stretch then freshly after a relaxer. Does this happen with every shampoo and conditioner you're using?

What shampoo and dc are you using? If they both have cones that may be the problem. They build up and eventually your hair will start snapping. dc's with cones in them suck period.

wash your hair in plaits if its long enough this helped me greatly with breakage. i do 5-7 plaits. sounds like too much manipulation when you are stretching.

I use Qp Elasta for relaxed hair as my shampoo. I also use Aphogee Deep moisture and Aphogee shampoo for damaged hair.

Is there a way I can shampoo my hair while in plait without it breaking.

LoveBeautyKisses - aside from the feedback given, I must admit that rarely do I have a wash session without breakage, be it one strand or five strands. I know others have indicated in other threads they are able to achieve zero breakage, well, I'm not there yet.

I usually get some type of breakage as well. I don't think there can ever be no breakage whatsoever. I am fine with very minimal (as in a few hairs), but I'm not ok if I see tons of small hairs falling into the sink. How are you combing your hair? You might be snapping your ends. I usually see more breakage though when it is close to dusting time.

tiffers i dont use Aphogee as much anymore and clarify once a month if I have used a ton of products. I took out my sew in last week and didnt clarify. I did use tons of oil to take out the sew in but and shampooed when i was done.

Today I did an egg AOHSR AND EVOO treatment.
let sit for 10 minutes with a plastic cap

I rinsed that out and applied Aphogee Balancing Moisturizer

I saw breakage as i rinsed out my hair. I figured maybe it my nails idk

Rinsed

Co-Washed with Tresemme Naturals
saw a little breakage

Rinsed

DC with Aussie 3 min moist, some oil and Bee Mines Deep Conditioner

Rinsed

Didnt see much breakage after that

Currently airdrying in 4 plaits

I finger comb when im washing. The only time i comb is when Im am using a wide tooth comb to detangle after washing after i apply my leave ins

I see. I think you said your hair is fine? Try pre-pooing with a lot of oil and a baggy on your head for a couple hours...maybe over night. Then try detangling in the morning before washing. Your hair should be really pliable. Then put your hair in about 4 - 6 large, but loose braids to shampoo. Don't unravel the braids when you wash. Just squeeze the shampoo into them and squeeze to rinse. This will cut down on manipulation and breakage. Next, take down each braid and apply any DC you may want...then braid back up again to rinse the DC out. Basically, any time you are in the shower, your hair should be in braids. I find that the water pressure can give my poor strands a beating.

My hair is fine and if I detangle on wet hair, I get more than normal breakage. Alternate your protein and moisture Dcs too...If you already are, try different ones (maybe natural products) or less protein or less moisture. You will have to experiment some.

bumping..... still having the same issue... Im transitioning now though...

LoveBeautyKisses, I've revised my wash day procedure and the amount of breakage has reduced significantly although I still get a few strands here and there. I shampoo or co-cleanse then towel dry my hair to soak up some of the water. I then apply my conditioner. The hair is barely damp at this point. Not handling the hair while sopping wet has helped tremendously.
