That's not my favorite form of marketing. :nono:

I received this too.
I wish the woman well - but something doesn't sit right with me. So I've deleted

I am on her mailing list and I just delete the e-mails. I am like you Sareca. I dont really like these e-mails too much. wish her the best but I need to get off the mailing list. Well at least she makes the subject lines more personable....:spinning:

I'm on the mailing list for Braids by Breslin and I just received this email. I'm kinda put off by it. I don't know if it's just me, but this email screams SCAM.

Do you guys think I reading to much into it?

:nono: It doesn't sound like a scam to me. I'd rather give a dollar and it be a scam, than ignore it and miss a chance to help someone who really needs it.

I didn't receive the email, but from what you've posted here, the email link directly back to the website (blog). The Owner (Marquetta Breslin) of the site explains WHY she used her business distribution list to attempt to raise money for an individual (Cy). On the website there's a phone number listed for Braids By Breslin as well, so if you want to contact the owner Marquetta A. Breslin about the matter, you can.

Point is, that this particular email doesn't come nameless or faceless or without ways to find out its legitimacy. You have a Contact to inquire with. This is about the same risk as dropping a dollar in the jar at the Grocery counter with the little sick kids face on it or dropping a few bucks to the ladies raising funds for a local shelter while you walk into Walmart. I don't ever really know if they are legit either, I just make my decision then and there if I want to give or not. If you don't give to anonymous people over the web, I can certainly understand that too.

IMO, Marquetta should have written her newsletter as normal and included a blurb about the fundraiser for her abused friend within it. There are local shelters and organizations that are set to help and provide relocation assistance to abused women too.

Yeah that doesn't sound right at all. Have any of you checked out her blog?

On the list but I rarely if ever read her emails...That is wild.

I am on another mailing list for Stich Diva (a crochet pattern website) and they recently did a charity drive where 75% of the proceeds went to two different families. I thought that was really nice.

I am on her e-mail list but I did not receive this e-mail. Last one I received was on Sunday regarding her tips for growing hair. She didn't state anything we haven't discussed on LHCF
