Braidout pics and question

Hey ladies I'm in the mood to wear my hair out and I'm tired of shingling/wg's . I want to perfect my braid outs. So I've got a few questions.

•do you braid on wet or dry hair?
•how many braids do you do?
•what products do you use?
•how do you keep your hair at night?
•how long does it last?

For those that braid on dry hair how do you do that? Once my hair is dry it is hard to style.

For those who braid on wet hair. How do you get your hair to dry faster. My hair seems to take forever to dry.

In the pics below. I braided wet hair using Cantu Shae Leave in Conditioner. I did 6 big braids and put curlers on the end. It came out wearable but not as uniform as I would like. Also my hair was still wet in the am and I blow dried it after I took the braids out.

Try braiding damp hair and using pink or gray perm rods on the ends with end papers. I used to use the rods without the end papers It still gave a good result I later realized this was murdering my ends. As far as how many braids that would depend on what look you were going for the smaller the braid is the tighter the wave and the bigger the braid is the looser the wave pattern will be. Also, sure your hair is 95-100% dry or you will end up with a wazy frizzy mess if that was not your intention.

Hope that helps.

I only do my braid outs on wet hair. In the morning it's still alittle damp but I don't mind that cause I know it will dry later on in the day. I usually do 4 braids total, 2 in the front and 2 in the back. The curls come out looser. I secure the braids with a elastic rubber band that has oil on it and I tuck the ends with the rubber band. To re-wet my hair for my braidout I use water mixed with a leave-in and the seal w/ WGHO. For me, I prefer my hair to be 50% wet when re-braiding. I re-braid every night to every other night if I'm not wearing it out.

BTW: Your braidout looks great! I LUV your hair color.

•do you braid on wet or dry hair?
It really depends. I usually braid on damp, freshly washed hair. When I braid on damp hair, I pin it around my head to keep my hair stretched while its drying.

•how many braids do you do?
About 10

•what products do you use?
After using a leave-in and oil to seal, I sometimes use a gel (Ecostyler Argan Oil, Kiss My Face Upper Management, or a tacky gel/paste like Silk Elements Straight Edges or Curls Passion Fruit Curl Control Paste if I want a lot of hold, control and definition. It depends on what kind of finish I'm looking for. If I want more body and curls, I use a lighter gel or no gel at all. For control (especially if I'm bunning my hair anyway) I use something with more hold.

•how do you keep your hair at night?
Pineapple or rebraid/twist in about 4-6 braids/twists at night. No additional combing. I bun it during the day. Twisting/braiding is just to stretch it and keep the tangles and knots down.

•how long does it last?
I wash my hair every 3-4 days due to the fact I sweat a lot at the gym and my hair does very well with semi-frequent washing. I think the style would last a week though my scalp doesn't last that long.

Braidouts are my staaaaple style, love em!

•do you braid on wet or dry hair?
Damp Hair
•how many braids do you do?
16
•what products do you use?
A leave in + Shea Butter + Gel combo
More specifically Luv Naturals Leave In, my Shea Butter mix, and Kinky Curly Curling Custard
•how do you keep your hair at night?
Loose, low pony. Tied down with satin scarf. Fluff in the am. Rebraid once I see some frizz.
•how long does it last?
As long as I want it too! Rebraiding keeps it fresh, but I only stretch it till my next wash.

•For those that braid on dry hair how do you do that? Once my hair is dry it is hard to style.
'Dry' hair should be stretched hair. Meaning an old Braidout/Twistout, or hair that has been in a bun. So it should be slightly manageable.

•For those who braid on wet hair. How do you get your hair to dry faster. My hair seems to take forever to dry.
I try to style on damp hair..you can tshirt or air dry your hair a bit before styling. And go easy on the products you use.

Hope I helped!! Your hair color is the business!!

TeeBee I LOVE your hair! Could you describe to me your braid placement? And are they like medium sized?

-PYT
THX HUN!! I initially do 16 braids, medium sized (so 4 sections, 4 braids in each section) but once I re braid, it becomes 8, large size (4 sections, 2 braids in each)
I hope that makes sense!

keepithealthy I have not done a braid out on my hair loose, but I do braid-outs on twists or microbraids, and I do it on damp hair. I don't worry about it drying fast because I usually create braids that I can wear as a style for a couple of days and then when my hair is fully dry, I undo it and rock the braid out.

This:

....is how I created the braid-out below. (I wore that^^ braided style for a couple of days and when I undid them, my hair was firmly set into a wavy style.)

The look can last a few days. I do not use any products. Twist-outs and braid-outs hold better for me when there is no product on my hair. My hair also stretches better when bare.
