Braiding Hair

Yes it's me - again! I tried to get my hair done for Christmas, but the stylist wouldn't do it with the hair I'd bought. She told me mine was too long for the 18".

So I gotta ask... what're some good, cheap, human (human ish) braiding hair brands that come in 24"? Thanks!

I don't know about "human-hair-ish" or "cheap" but I can tell you where I get human hair if I want long lengths: www.hisandher.com Since I tend to get a lot of use out of the hair I buy, it justifies spending that kind of money on hair. I never get the silkier kind or the cuticle hair, so I don't pay the high-end prices. I usually get two pieces and have been known to wear the same hair for two years straight. Even if you don't get the very silky kind, it's still pretty silky. I was wearing 28" in these pics:

Have you tried a BSS for 24" human hair?

That's a 28"? Dang. How tall are you? I'm trying to get braids that go down to my waist, and I'm so used to just getting 18" weave hair. (I'm 5'2, btw.)

Human Hair that long no matter what brand is going to be expensive. With braids 18" is not going to be as long as it would with weave. Because the braiding takes it up some. It's not just hanging straight. I hear the Brandy hair is good and it's the same price no matter the length. It's not human though it's some kind of protein hair that's somewhere between human and synthetic.

I'm not tall at all. I'm a squirt, but I fold the extension hair in half when I braid and I wanted the extensions to extend beyond the longest hair on my head (about 11 inches) so that I'd have at least 3 inches of extension hair that I could curl without worrying about putting heat on my hair.

Yeah, the folding makes the hair come out shorter. The Brandy hair already comes folded in the pack. So technically it's double the length.

So if I got 30" of hair, it would end up being 15"?

Where can I find Brandy hair? I did a google search and didn't find anything.

Some braiders don't fold the hair in half; they just fold a small section at the starting end - enough to hold it in place - so that 18" could be 15" or even 17". I just prefer to fold in half so I can have a more or less uniform thickness through the length of the braid. I find folding just the end makes the base so much thicker than the ends and I don't like that.

It's called Pro-10 hair. But they call it the Brandy hair because Brandy the singer is the spokesperson for it. She is on the package. I think it's made by Sensationnel.

Nonie's right. They take the two pieces and kind of overlap it in the middle. So some of the hair overlaps but it still shortens it some.
