Braid Outs Or Wash N Goes, Which Gives The Most Hair Growth?

A lot of the You tubers that i follow like Ansah, Naptural85, Mahogany curls do wash and goes and their hair seems to be flourishing. I have been natural since 05 and still have should length natural hair. I do weekly braid outs, no deep conditioning, some henna monthly, braid a least two times a week with rollers on the ends but i still get no significant growth? Anyone else experience this?

Most of is need protective styling to encourage and nurture longer lengths. Wash n go's and braid outs are not P/s. If you opt for these styles just know that your growth will be less than ot could be.
I love my fro and am comfortable with my wash n go life! My hair is just now touching my shoulders after I cut it in 2014! ...and I'm ok with that cause it's not my season to braid & twist.

Thanks, for the advice. I heard that Giovanni leave in was good as well as a scalp stimulator on Website Vanity Planet. I have been eyeing this for a fresh pursuit of length. I am also looking at getting a new shower filter since the water here is so hard and rusty.

I noticed this too, but I have to deep condition on a regular basis and protective style in order to retain my length.

Does the leave-in allow you to deep condition? If not, you really should consider a deep conditioning at least weekly. Hair stylists who specialize in growing long, healthy natural hair caution against skipping a deep conditioner.

Tamika Bell, who used to be on here, has a YT channel you may consider following. Here's her video about why some people's hair isn't growing. And, like one poster said, length retention is usually the culprit vs hair growth.

I did about two years of braidouts and had negligible growth during that period. The constant rebraiding every night was not good for my length retention nor my ends evidently. Mini twists have done wonders for my retention. I wear twists for three weeks and then a twist out for a week and then repeat.

Cowashing is the truth! I consistently notice that I get better retention cowashing than I do with any other type of styling. I had been natural since 2010, and it wasn't until around 2014 when I started cowashing and stopped using heat that I grew my hair past CBL. I think cowashing is good for your hair because:

If you massage your scalp when you cowash, you get daily stimulation. This is assuming you're not using something like Herbal Essences, but your using a conditioner with healthy ingredients. Look for tea tree, olive oil, little or no cones, no petrolatum or mineral oil.

Your hair is ALWAYS moisturized, including when you manipulate it. Manipulating hair in its elastic state can prevent breakage, while your hair is not elastic when it is dry and your are more prone to rough up your ends. It is still a good idea to not brush too much, and to use a wood bristle brush.

I do suggest keeping hair stretched, i.e cowash and bun. Wash and goes can make your hair knot up and give you even more problems.

You MUST MUST MUST deep condition, I can't stress that enough. I recommend you DC at least every time you shampoo, using a plastic cap. It truly makes a difference.
