Braid-out dilemna

Ladies, I need help!

I have no idea what hair type I have (I've been relaxed for about 10 years).

But I'm trying to grow my perm out, I have about 1 inch of new growth 9so that isn't the issue-it's manageable).

The issue however is, that I've started doing braid-outs this week. I use Motions leave in or leave a bit of Nexxus Humectress in and an oil moisturizer...but my hair is super dry feeling, almost crunch when i take it out.

it looks nice, but feels bad. I want it to feel as soft as it looks and not be afraid to put my fingers through it. LOL

Can anyone suggest a or some good products?

TIA!

I had this exact problem this week, which is why I'm going back to rollersets, I'm sure someone will provide you with a good response.

Rollersets are sooo not an option for me. I've tried a million and one times and it ends up either looking a scalding mess or feeling like (insert explicative).

I read on the site that someone has really good braidout experience using Carols Daughter healthy hair butter...you can buy it at sephora now...

You can use some Elasta Mango butter with a little bit of oil to help seal in the moisture. Also, Shea Butter is really good for this type of style.

I don't live near a Sephora...the nearest one is a 30 minute drive and I don't know if I want to fight traffic for a product that one person mentioned. LOL

Thanks...

I've used the mango butter on my hair before (not for a braid out though)...I don't remember the results (that could be a good or bad thing). What kind of oil do you suggest? And how/when should I apply these products?

I like to use a mix of different oils, I alternate between olive, castor or grapeseed. It all depends on the mood I'm in, sometimes I mix all three, when I don't have any of the 3 mentioned I just use something like Africa's Best Oil or Aphogee's EFA (essential Fatty Acids) oil.

Would S-Curl be a good moisturizer? Do you think my hair would be hard? I am doing a braidout and also need to find something that will make my hair soft and allow me to put my hands through it.
