All of that hair! I love peeping in your album. Can you share your regimine?

Oh, wow! I was suprised to see this post! Thank you, Bublnbrnsuga! I've done abused my hair for so long that I'm surprised I still have a lot left to work with. But this past month I've been keeping my routine simple. On Sundays I wash/conditon (Motions moisterizing shampoo/Loreal megamoisture deep conditoner) and then I braid my hair with perm rods on the end. Instead of using grease, I've been using avocado butter, which is awesome. The next day I loosen my braids and then for the entire week I wear a braid out. No brushing or combing or anything else for the rest of the week until the next Sunday. I really love doing braid outs now because my hair gets to be left alone. But that's it! I don't use a lot of products or go through a lot of hair rituals. I just keep it simple and I'm fine.

Girl, you have beautiful thick hair for real....My Goodness....

One question: Do you comb through your braidouts daily, or do you just finger comb?? How do you combat the tangles that inevitably happen when you don't re-braid the hair daily?? THANKS!!

Hi and thanks, everybody!

Lindy: Sometimes I finger comb my hair (to make it thicker) and sometimes I don't. If I wear a scarf and watch out for moisture, then my hair is fine and I don't have to do anything. You know what I've noticed with braid outs? When I wash/condition my hair on Sundays, I have no problems with tangles! Whether I use my K-cutter, pick, or red plastic comb all three just glide through my hair. When I wore my hair in a afro puff on Sunday, it was hard to detangle because the curls catched on to one another and caused tangles and knots. But with braid outs, no detangling problems! Plus I'm not always putting a lot of products on my hair w/ braid outs, so that's another reason.

Thanks!! Do you detangle your hair BEFORE washing, or not? I find that sometimes if I don't, I get those nasty clumps of hair at my ends!!

@blue_flower - Your hair looks great and your braidouts look fantastic!

@Lindy - I like to detangle my hair BEFORE my wash. Doing so has prevented those tangles that you mentioned. If I don't detangle before my wash, I am asking for trouble. I like to detanle gently using my fingers only before the wash.

I detangle while I'm in the shower. Never before. It's easier for me when I do it that way.

Thanks!

I just braid on Sundays. On another thread someone mentioned that when they want to refresh their braidouts, they make twists. I haven't tried that it, but it's a good idea because it's quicker and easier than redoing the braids.

Ok, Thanks Blue. I'm going to start trying braid outs very soon. I hope they come out half as good as yours.

That is just gorgeous hair. Thanks everyone for bringing to the forefront all the natural ladies. I need this encouragement on a daily basis to continue to fight the fight to transition.

Godmademepretty, I don't know if you realized this, but I'm not natural anymore! I think some people are confused about that, but it's my fault. I have one album that says 'natural' and that's it. I was completely natural from Oct. '02 until Aug. '03. All of the other hair pictures from Nov '03 to now are of me with texturized hair. I hope at least you found my natural pics inspiring, especially the ones of when I was younger.
