Blowout?

can someone tell me what is a BLOWOUT, and how it's done. I hear so much from here and other threads that I want to try, is it better for the hair then regular blow drying.

The Blowout is actually done with a blowdryer. it's a technique used primarily by Dominican hairdressers to get the hair (especially at the roots) as straight as posisble. To achieve this, the blow dryer is aimed at the scalp and the heat gets the roots straight.

A blow out is where you hair is straightened using the blow dryer with a concentrated nozel and a round brush. The combination of heat and holding the hair taut provides very straight results.

It's usually accompanied every haircut I've ever gotten at white salons, versus a roller set or marcel flat iron at a black salon. Dominicans are the best (that I've tried). They are cheap and the perfectly frizz free hair lasts for several days. Dominican salons are known for providing super straight, shiny, and bouncy hair via blow outs and they are more familiar with hair that has a natural curl pattern.

There are several how-to guides on Youtube for blow outs. I've found it a lot more difficult to straighten a whole head of hair myself using a blowdryer and brush than I imagined. I've honestly not perfected a blow out yet.

i do blow outs but not the way most think of them.

i air dry my hair in braids or twists until barely damp then undo each braid or twist and alternate between cold and warm air onto the hair while using a brush to pull it taut.

my blowdryer has a cold setting so it's really easy to do and not have to worry about using too much heat.

the result is semi-straight hair but not flatiron smooth.
