I have a single strand knot problem and I feel like I've tried everything. So maybe using heat once per month (in the form of lighly blowdrying my hair) wouldn't be such a bad thing after all...

What do you think?

I feel that direct heat such as hair straighteners can cause quite a bit of damage to some people's hair. However, I agree with using a blow dryer on natural hair. My little sister gets her hair blow dried after every wash and she's still got an extremely thick BSL (stretched with fingers) afro. Well, she's 6 years old so we should say an imaginary Bra Strap Length.
Anyway, the problem of SSK is reduced and Longhairdontcare (I think) adopts this practice and her hair is growing fine.

I think as long as it's not very frequent (e.g. every 2 weeks) and it's light, then you'll be fine.

I too was just going to refer to Longhairdontcare. She has a head of gorgeous hair and blow dries before doing her braided protective styling (every month I think).

I think as long as your hair is well conditioned and cared for, healthy blow drying practices should not be a problem.

I'm going to be doing this, too. My SSK problem is ridiculous and I have a TWA.:nono: My blow dryer has a temp control so I think I'll be OK. I really am starting to lean towards LongHair's regimen. Her hair looks wonderful to me! I need to get some education on her technique.:yep:
