Blowdryers/What's the difference

What's the difference between an ION and just a plain ole regular Conair (example) blowdryer. Can anyone recommend a good brand/type to use? TIA

My understanding is ION dryers are better heat conductors therefore drying your hair quicker than regular dryers.
