I've interested in using a black rinse, but I remember a bunch of people saying that it always comes out blue/black and dosn' t wear off very easily. I want it to make my dark brown hair black, but not orienetal black. I want a natural looking black. What black rinse have you used that has given you this effect?

I used Bigens Black Brown and my hair came out Blue Black. I should have tried Bigens Dark Brown. Gentle Treatment has two browns (Caramelized Cocoa and Chocolate Mousse) that are pretty rich browns. I put in a permanent haircolor remover and it did lighten up, but it's still kind of dark for me.

if you are a permed head and is looking for a semi-permanent black dye to use then i suggest clairol's radiance color gloss lines (they are color deposits only dyes) i use 2 oz of 1a-black, 1 capful of medium-red (this takes the green/blue hue out), 2 capfuls of the clear (this is for added shine), and 2 oz of the developer. i then sit under a hot dryer for 15 minutes. the color is intense and last a long time( but, then again, i use a shampoo that is formulated to protect the color)
btw, my hairdresser (which is great) instructed/showed me how to do all of this and i did a real good job!
now if only she could only show me how to do a perm and dust

! Printing as we speak. Now tell me, what is the developer for? Wouldn't that lighten your hair? Or am I just confused as to what a developer is?

Try the darkest brown rinse you can find.

DO NOT AND I REPEAT, DO NOT USE A JET BLACK RINSE!!!!! THEY ARE HARD TO WASH OUT!!!!!

I used to get black rinses all the time and my hairdresser used Clairol's Beautiful Browns in the darkest brown available. It looked black and came out very nice.
