Wow! Dak,
The results turned out great! However... 4 hours! My goodness....I'm tired now ;)
Did it help with shedding?
Do you see a change in the volume of your hair?
Does your hair feel stronger?

Thanks LD! For all the time it took, I hope it will make a difference. I can see why all the stylists on youtube say they want to straighten the hair first, less work for them.
Heck I'm considering it for myself...less work for me!! LOL :spinning::drunk::yep:

ETA:

I am doing a treatment on memorial day weekend.

Dak has so much hair!!! My goodness. My arms would fall off! It should takem me an hour tops!

hmmm, from the looks of my bathroom counter this morning, clarifying and then blow drying w/o any conditioner/product brought a new level of shedding that I haven't seen in years. I'd forgotten how much the conditioning products I've used make a difference in detangling. Clarifying then blow drying is the most harsh thing I've done for years.

That said, once the product was in, no breakage from the flat iron & easy brushing this morning. :)

Volume, yes, there's more weight to my hair and the strands seem uniformly straight, something I can't get if I just blowdry, I usually roller set first. It will be interesting to see what it's like when I roller set again, right now it's flatter than I usually wear it.

Stronger, yes, at the moment, I'll have to let you know how it feels after I wash it again in a few days. :D

Off to work!

It would be a LOT less work, but relaxers destroy my hair. I could never grow it beyond the tops of my shoulders.

Oh, you've got to take pictures! Start early in the day, not like me...

Dak the blowdrying with no product part has me worried. My plan is to braid or band my hair after the clarifying shampoo and then dry under the bonnet dryer until about 80% dry which should stretch my hair out and help stop it from getting knots. Then I plan to blow dry using the PinkSkates tension method. That is the most gentle way I can think of to blow dry my hair.

Thanks for sharing your experience with us!

Thank you Blessed2bless & Hothair, for you comments on my fotki, I haven't been able to figure out how to respond to them yet. Too little sleep.

I'm leaning towards the QOD Gold myself...

ETA: Thanks for sharing Dak, I am about 95% certain I'm going with the QOD Gold.

Co sign. Between Dak's wondeful results and PinkSkates....it just makes me think about the Gold.:yep: Although everyone is getting great results.

Check this out.....

Your chance to try this popular treatment and get STRAIGHT, shiny, HEALTHY hair for months. Top salons charge hundred$$$ for the Brazilian Keratin Treatment, but you can do it at home!
Give it a shot with one of the best products on the market from the original creators of the Brazilian Keratin Treatment!

If you have curly, frizzy, dry or damaged hair, the Brazilian Keratin Treatment is the perfect solution. I have tried a number of other Keratin treatments (spending $1000+) and have discovered it's quite easy to do at home in just 1.5-2 hours while saving so much money (this procedure costs $300-$700, and the product applied may not be as good). This product is authentic, top of the line and freshly imported (exp. date 10/2010). The Brazilian Keratin Treatment (BKT) does not harm your hair, even if a chemical has treated it previously.
QOD GOLD is the latest formula made with keratin technology and 24 karat gold charged nanoparticles which use heat to bind the keratin to the hair and make it straight and shiny. Keratin is a natural substance already in hair and gives it the ability to return to its original healthy, shiny, smooth state. Unlike other products available on the market, such as relaxers, or Japanese thermal conditioning (which has high alkaline and can harm the hair structure), QOD Gold straightens hair without damaging it. Styling time will decrease dramatically and you will only need minutes to blow out your softened curls pin straight. In some cases hair is so satisfactorily straight it's wash and go. Humidity, rain or sweat will no longer affect hairstyle. Your hair will stay effortlessly beautiful hair for 2-4 months, depending on how often you wash.

Items included:

1 - 1.0 oz QOD GOLD Alchemist Mask for 1 treatment (exp. date 10/2010)
1 - 1.0 oz. Clarifying Shampoo needed for pre-treatment
2 - Safety Masks for your comfort while applying/being applied product

Thanks Dak,
As AJJ quoted earlier.... Blowdrying is my concern also. May have to try AJJ's method of blowdrying, if I decide to purchase the product in June...

I have two thoughts of how to handle this. I may use water and the snap on magnetic rollers and sit under the dryer until almost dry and then use the blow dryer at the end if needed. That will be a much gentler way of stretching out the hair. It will take longer but I won't loose nearly as much hair while drying to avoid knots, tangles and tearing of the hair.

I think I'll be one of the first with super shrinking hair to do the BKT on the board. I think the more stretched out I can get my hair before I do the flat iron step, the better my results will be.

I think you AJJ & Blessed2bless have a good iplan. Our hair, without anything on it, is so fragile. Maybe plan on spending some time just finger detangling in the shower, too, that may help. I think it would have helped me to divide my hair into two braids and wash in sections.

You are exactly right. I forgot to mention, I am going to use my wash in sections method also...

I braid about 6 - 8 braids, then I take each one down, wash and re-braid move on to the next. When I'm done it's all still braided. Then I will take each braid down and roll while spritzing with water. Then I will sit under the dryer until 80% dry or what ever the instructions calls for. I may not even need to use the blow dryer after the shampoo step.

It sounds like a lot (and it is) but I can't afford to loose any strands. I have fine hair that likes to shrink. My goal is to avoid knots and tearing of my hair

Question for Dak:
After you put the keratin solution on, does it seems to make the blow drying step easier so there's is less tearing etc?

Once I get the treatment I won't have to be as worried because it will have a good coating for protection.

The keratin treatment wasn't all that wet on my hair so by the time I finally finished applying it all, my hair felt pretty dry. When I blew dry the 2nd time I just would brush out a small section, then hold onto the end and dry it, it was too hard to try and rake a brush through it.

After watching the QOD Gold youtube video it appears they only blowdry after the QOD mask is applied to wet hair. Is this how everyone is using the product or are you supposed to blowdry to 80% first like other BKT products?

The following are the instructions from the web page link, I will see what the instructions say that arrive with the treatment:

THOROUGHLY WASH THE HAIR TWICE, WITH A CLARIFYING SHAMPOO SUCH AS QOD CLEANSE. THIS STRIPS THE HAIR OF WASTE AND IMPURITIES. RINSE WELL AND TOWEL DRY.

BLOW-DRY THE HAIR WITH MODERATE HEAT AND ALLOW IT TO DRY COMPLETELY.

PREPARE ANY SALON SAFETY PROTOCOLS.

PART HAIR, THEN APPLY WITH COLOR BRUSH SECTION-BY-SECTION ¼ INCH FROM ROOT. USE A FINE COMB TO REMOVE EXCESS PRODUCT. VERIFY THAT THE HAIR IS EVENLY SATURATED.

PERFORM A STANDARD BLOW-DRY USING MEDIUM HEAT. FLAT IRON THE HAIR STRAIGHT, IN VERY SMALL SECTIONS.

GO OVER EACH SECTION UP TO 7 TIMES. FINE TUNE THE TREATMENT BY ADJUSTING THE AMOUNT OF FLAT IRONING, MAXIMIZING VOLUME REDUCTION OR ENHANCING WAVE.

YOU MUST USE A PROFESSIONAL CERAMIC FLAT IRON THAT CAN MAINTAIN A 450 DEGREE TEMPERATURE, OTHERWISE, THE TREATMENT WILL FAIL.

PROVIDE YOUR CLIENT WITH AFTERCARE INSTRUCTIONS: DO NOT WASH, TIE, OR BIND THE HAIR FOR 48 HOURS.

EXTEND AND INTENSIFY THE RESULTS BY USING KERATIN-BASED, PH-BALANCED AFTERCARE PRODUCTS. QOD GOLD SHAMPOOS AND CONDITIONERS WERE CREATED JUST FOR THIS PURPOSE. QOD GOLD AFTERCARE PROLONGS THE SMOOTHNESS AND SHIMMER OF ANY BRAZILIAN KERATIN TREATMENT.

The written instructions say to dry the hair completely after shampooing.

Hi AJJ and Dak,
:nono: me too on the bolded. My hair sheds because I'm a natural and this maybe a solution to control some of the shedding... I'm currently in braids and will be redoing them until July for my class reunion in so. cali.
My goal for using BKT is to reduce shedding and less time detangling my 4ish hair.

AJJ.. hey, the rollerset method maybe a great idea:grin:. And as Dak suggested to really concentrate on detangling in the shower using the C&G method :yep:. I know for a fact that blowdrying my hair without product is a formula spelling disaster.

I had to come back in here and re-read this... This is def. a plan:yawn: . My brain has been :drunk: over this bk treatment.

After seeing PinkSkates results with QOD Gold I've really been considering doing the treatment myself. Especially with summer coming, my forehead sweats and I'm "touching up" my sides way too much with the flat iron.

Has anyone bought from ebay? Do you need a cosmetology license to buy from the company?

Does speed of application make a difference? I have a lot of hair & from what I've read, you only leave the treatment on for 5 mins. Will I overprocess the area I first apply the solution to?

After the treatment it says not to tie hair with anything initially, how do you sleep with it, would loose braids be OK? I'm thinking tangles if I didn't do something with it.

LOL, I'd never spend any money on myself if it wasn't for this site.

Just an FYI someone told me about getting QOD from Ebay, it might be bootleg. There's only one way to get the real QOD and that is with a license from the manufacturers. I'd be careful because of the chemical danger. Who knows what you're getting otherwise?

 me too!! I keep refining my plan, down to what kind of medium/fine tooth comb I'm going to use to comb the product through my hair...LOL

Okay! (on the bolded) I was thinking the same thing... about the comb! I just can't imagine combing my natural hair with a fine/medium comb:nono:.
First of all,...... Well let not even go there:rolleyes:..........

You can do it but it must be detangled before you can do it. It's an important step because its how you get the excess product out of your hair before flat ironing.

Oh AJJ,
I not sure I can.... okay you go first :lachen:....Seriously though...maybe i'll sqeeze it in section as though i'm shingling.

When are you doing your bkt? I want step by step details:yep:... I'm planning the end of June or maybe July depending on my NG from my braids. When you start....Shoot me a pm please:grin:....Sounds as though we are the same 4ish hair with major shrinkage.
KMP.....:look:
