I just recently had the Mirena IUD put in. This IUD releases small doses of progesterone into the uterus. I'm worried because when I was on the shot (which also releases progesterone into the system) my hair started breaking off. I am concerned that the Mirena IUD will have the same effect. Does anyone has similar experiences with birth control causing hair breakage?

When I took Accutane a year ago, I had to be on birth control (Ovcon-35). I wouldnt say I experienced more breakage but I experience major shedding 2 months after taking Accutane which made my hair really thin where you could see my scalp when my hair was dry AND wet. I got off the birth control a few months afterwards and my shedding stopped. I think it is said that birth control can cause hair loss.
