Biotin and B5

Sorry to start a new thread on this, but I searched and searched and I couldn't find Tara's thread on how she used B5 to clear up her skin.....


I'm posting on the hair board and not the skin board because the B5 for skin discussion came up incident to a problem people were having with too much biotin - fine bumps on the face.

Here's what Tara so graciously told me when I PMed her....

Basically you take 10 Grams of B-5 every day until your skin clears up, then you can reduce the dose. I would advise that whoever follows this take a B-Complex supplement because it's never good to take a single b vitamin alone.

Also an update to my testimonial, I switched brands from Twinlabs, to KAL because it had more mg's for less pills. Well I like twinlabs way better! Just more effective IMO so I'll be back to it.

I am also on a maintenence dose now, I take one pill in the a.m. and one pill in the p.m. and so far, so good.

You have me thinking about changing over to KAL for B5 as well. I noticed they have 1000mg tablets. That'd be great for my hair dose, as well as when I up the dosage for skin....
 
Thank u Tracy and Tara for posting that info. I'm getting me some b-5! I started taking biotin 5mgs a day and did it for 3 days and I broke out!! Then I switched to 2.5 for 3 days and still broke out. By the way, I had also increased my water intake during this time. Now I am experimenting with 2.5 mgs 3x a week.
 
Here is my personal experience with b-5 so far. I have been using it for a week.

I have taken the most 8 pills of 250mg each day since last week. I have noticed that no new breakouts, less oil on my face and my pores have shrunk!! I am in love with b-5 because i see results quickly. i try to take it not too long after i take my biotin. My dosage is quite low so i am pleased. I will order the 1000mg pills so i dont have to take so many pills at one time. If it is done correctly you can take both biotin and b-5 to help with breakouts. It works for me so i hope it works for the rest of you.

Wow, I took it coz someone said it makes your hair thick, well I usually get pimples around period time but it's been a while since I've noticed any, what a wonderful "side effect"
