you want to start with your own hair when getting cornrows? What's the significance of this? Does anyone know? TIA

i would think that they ask that b/c, u can start it with the extension hair and have that knot at the beggining or start with ur own hair and have that natural cornrow look without that knot in the beggining..have u ever seen it..kinda like the founder of essence the lady who alwyas wears her hair in cornrows..they always start them with her own hair....not sure if I'm describing it right...

Yeah there's a member here that goes to Fa's. She has pics for examples. I wish there was someone near me to do the feedin braids.

I've been there before and this ^^ is what I saw. They charge about $10 more for the style when you start with your own hair. I think it is better for your edges and gives a prettier look to the braids IMO.

So did I! I don't get my hair braided often and one of the reasons is becasue I hate the knots at the beginning of the braid. Next time I'll know to ask if the braider can start with my hair first. Thanks ladies!

yeah, u can request it now from the African salon's here in Brooklyn..they will start the braids with ur own hair..i love that look...
