I'm gonna cut all my hair off tomorrow. Anything I should know before doing this?
Because I want to be natural. Why do you plan on cutting all your hair off?
Because I want to be natural.
thanks this will be my first time.Ok. Do you have any regrowth? Or will you be shaving it all smooth? Have you had a crop cut before?
Sorry I have no pearls of wisdom for you but I hope you enjoy your cut, and try not to stress about growth.
I thought about it. My hair has gone downhill . It's breaking all over, so I thought maybe if I start over..but u are right..it is a long journey and I really don't think I can handle that so I told my mom never mind earlier... I don't think I will cut it. I guess I'm. Just in that stage where I can't do anything with my hair so I get those moments where I feel like cutting my hair..etc.Are you positive that your mentally ready to BC? It's a long journey and commitment and from what I gathered from when we participated in the SL thread, you tend to be antsy about growth. If you don't mind a TWA for a yr or two then by all means, go for the gusto.
What's different today than yesterday? How long have you been thinking about this?

Yeah. I have. You still need to figure out what's causing the breakage. Cutting your hair off, wont solve everything. Have you thought about transitioning?
OP I think you should transition. Baby the hair you have for now and big chop when you have enough new growth to wear comfortably.
I did like you wanted to and big chopped on a whim. I'm not sorry I did it because i like short hair on me but had I thought about it longer I probably wouldn't have.
i dont know how to transit from relaxed to natural..how do i do that? how long does that take?
I haven't relaxed in 5 months..Do I just start from the new growth? How do I get the curl pattern etc? Do I have to use certain products? It's a case of allowing y relaxer to grow out until you are comfortable enough or curious enough or fed up enough to cut off your remaining relaxed ends.
I transitioned for about two years before I cut off my relaxed hair. I hid my hair the entire time, doing my own extensions (twists/ box braids/ crochet) because I didn't want/ know how to deal with styling short hair with two textures. I'd already killed my relaxed hair with too much heat and bad clip-in practises. The reason I stopped relaxing my hair was so I could try to nurture my hair and scalp back to health.
Lol I changed my mindDid you do it yet?
You can wear your hair any way you want being careful and gentle. Twist outs, perm/flexi rod or other rollerset are good styles for transitioners. Keep track of your new growth and when you get tired enough you can cut the relaxed ends. Depending on how long your hair is now you can cut a little every month or so too.I haven't relaxed in 5 months..Do I just start from the new growth? How do I get the curl pattern etc? Eta : not sure about products for you but I do know you won't be able to tell your real curl pattern until all the relaxed ends are gone.
I transitioned for 30 months before I was ready to cut. My avi was taken on damp hair directly after the cut. Even though there's plenty of hair I still miss my long hair. So I get it. Take your time. Do French rolls and buns. Gel your hair down in front rather than pull back right to smooth. Lots of deep conditioning and low manipulation. No flat ironing if you want uniform curls to wear at the end of your transition.i dont know how to transit from relaxed to natural..how do i do that? how long does that take?
my new growth is 2 inches now I see a wave pattern...but not much curls hmm is everyone's texture just different.. do I have to deep condition
Yes. I'm transitioning. I'm five months postYep, textures can be similar but we're all different- large/small coils/ silky/ cottony texture etc. When my hair was relaxed, my new growth would come in with waves, as long as my hair wasn't too dry. But I never really got to see my coils how they are now.
Deep conditioning will add moisture and/ or protein to help your hair. Think of it like water and food for hair. I hope you've got some faves to use. A great DC is one of the hardest things to fall into place for me. When I find something that feels like it works, I tend to stick to it. Protein for me is Mill Creek Botanicals Jojoba conditioner- Keratin is the main protein. For a moisture boost, I use Aubrey Organics Honey Suckle Rose, and White Camellia. They work better for me when I use them diluted and warm.
Like KammyGirl said, you really won't be able to tell your curl pattern until the straight ends are gone. Have you decided what you're going to do?
