This is a hugely stupid question, but what is the best way to tell if you have new growth: when your hair is flat ironed, roller set, wet, or air dried?
I ask because I thought I was sure of how much growth I had, but it seems like a different amount everyday. I have a very mild relaxer in my hair (I guess this is texturized?) and my relaxed texture is pretty much the same as my natural texture with some very slight differences. My hair is roller set at the moment, and every day my new growth length looks different (longer one day, shorter the next.) I exercise often and can't tell whether the sweat near my scalp is just making my relaxed hair look like natural growth or whether it's actually new growth.
So after my next wash, how should I wear my hair to best see the new growth? Or should I examine my hair while wet?
