I need to start preparing my scalp at home before going to the salon because I ALWAYS burn in the same spot in the back of my head-sort of where a boy would have the hook.

So what are the best relaxer bases? And how can I prep my scalp pre-relaxer.

TIA!

ampro makes a pink base that you find at sallys for a couple of bucks. It is thick but easy to use. It worked very well the last time I self relaxed.

The base that I love is Summit. (You can pick it up in my BSS) It is orangy and has this soothing minty feel after you put it on. I burn like crazy even with a sensitive scalp Affirm perm and this has been my life saver.

I second this one, it's for sensitive scalp and works really good.

I use DAX wax (It's red and really thick), but it works well and my sister says that my hair even seems to relax better. I also tend to burn in the same spots and this helps to alleviate that.
