Best Products for Slicking Down Hair

I'm planning on wearing my hair natural and have very, very coarse, very, very very (u get the point) thick hair. Can anyone recommend good products for slicking hair back that aren't damaging? Keep in mind that I have really thick hair so I need some pretty stong products. Thanks!

I've had great success slicking back my very thick natural hair with a combination of Kemi Oyl Pomade (has the consistency of peanut butter) followed by castor oil.

I rub the Kemi Oyl pomade between my palms and apply it to my wet hair, slick back into a bun, and then apply a thin layer of castor oil. I then tie it up wih a scarf for at least an hour, or overnight if I'm headed to bed. Once I remove the scarf I have shiny deep waves!
