I purchased sublimed sulfur last September to make mixes. I don't think any of my mixes have been near 10% but I've had good growth. I don't have a baseline to compare it to though.

I infuse the sulfur in grapeseed oil (I've used castor oil before but my house smelled funny for about week afterwards) since it has a higher heating point. I infuse about 1.5-2 tbsp along with nettle and about 15 crushed biotin pills in about 1/2 cup of oil. I let it seep for at least 30 minutes and then I pour it into a glass bottle (empty juice bottle) and fill it w/EVOO and a little castor oil for thickness. I then use that to make my mixes or add to my braid spray mix.

No phenomenal growth (see below), but that may be b/c of the low potency of my mixtures and other internal factors. HTH!

ahh thaankyu.! ididnt know yu had to wash it out though :ohwell:
i dont think you have to wash it out, although alot of ppl use it as a pre-poo so they end up washing it out anyways. im pretty sure its fine to seal with or add to a leave-in or spritz.

okay I am now scared to death of sublime sulfur after reading that article lmao! I'm gonna try amla and brahma oils for one mixture and try jojoba, castor and peppermint oil in another mixture then compare the 2.

MSM is different than sublimed sulfur - This is a little scary though...

MSM Sulfur vs. Sulfur

Ahem. The sulfur compared to msm in this article is NOT sublimed sulfur (flowers of sulfur), which is why "sublimed sulfur" is always emphasized when we're talking about sulfur mixes.

Many confuse this with sublimed sulfur. It's NOT the same, folks. The sulfur used in sulfuric acid produces that rotten egg smell that people tend to associate with sulfur. Sublimed sulfur has a very faint, if any, smell.

As for oils, my faves are jojoba, grapeseed, EVOO, EVCO and jojoba. I have tried adding some indian oils (Brahmi, alma) mainly because I had 'em handy. I also add peppermint and rosemary essential oils but, just a few drops. The carrier oils used should be ones that absorb into the scalp and are moisturizing to the hair (because it will be on your ng when massaged in). I like to add jbco because it thickens the mix and makes it less runny.

'tis all.

I use a little WGO, softee growth oil and hot 6 oil. I will probably usee castor oil next month to make it thicker.

What results has everyone seen so far? How many more inches are you getting post-sulfer mixes compared to before?

Hmmmm I didn't vote.

Essentials were mixed with carriers..lol.

I like to mix unrefined coconut oil, castor oil with severals drops of peppermint (and with some jasmine and /or Ylang if I have any)with my sulfur.

I put 1 tsp of sublimed sulfur powder in a nozzle bottle. Then added 1oz of castor oil and then poured 7oz of Africas Best Oils... I shook the bottle up and tried to mix it the best I could. I let this sit overnight. This morning all the sulfur is at the bottom. Do I need to try something else to mix it? Or just shake it each time before using???

Sulfur is not going to completely mix into the oils and the particles won't remain suspended in the oils evenly. You will have to mix/shake it up each time before applying, PoisednPolished. Even the market-sold MTG has sulfur that settles to the bottom of the bottle. Now, the thicker oils might allow for less settling.

The only way I can think of having even suspension is to use an oil that solidifies at room temp, like coconut oil. Maybe heat the oil, mix up the sulfur, and allow it to cool, which is like making a pomade. This is how I imagine they make Sulfur 8 pomade, which I use, and of course it has even amounts of sulfur throughout...but is a solid. HTH!:yep:

As for the thread question, I voted "other." I use 2 oz Mahabringaraj oil, 1 oz Africas Best Herbal Oil, 1 oz Hot Six Oil (which is largely olive oil, sweet almond, etc)., and about 20 drops of peppermint oil (very strong and concentrated). I will also be adding castor, jojoba, and lavender oils as soon as they arrive. I add more sublimed sulfur powder as needed, as well as an equal amount of all the oils to mix into a 4 oz applicator bottle.

Ok, so I just read a good portion of the MSM-Vs.-Sulfur article...and it made me shiver and cringe at the same time. I shivered at the adverse effects of sulfuric acid when applied to the skin...and cringed when they stated that "Many people, especially African-Americans, refer to sulfuric acid as sulfur, so when they hear about MSM sulfur, they ignorantly equate MSM sulfur with sulfuric acid which did many of them tremendous harm."<<---that right there made my blood boil a little bit. BUT ANYWHO....what I wanted to know is there a significant difference between this Sublimed Sulfur:

Is that your usual mixture and you're just adding the castor, jojoba and lavender or are they usually in the originial mix as well? How has it been working for you?

I put a heaping teaspon of sublimed sulfur an 8oz bottle with nozzle. I have about 50% coconut oil, 25% castor, and the rest jojoba and a small amount of evoo(can't stand the smell). I also put 10 drops of peppermint oil in the mix. Haven't started yet because I wanted to finish out my 1 and 1/2 months usage of MT. Will start 12/31/10
