Your Cheeziness, how are you taking care of your hair in the desert? I would assume that it would be extremely hard to do. I'm asking because I haven't deployed yet, but as soon as I joined this site, that was one of the questions that came to mind.

Ladies, maybe we need to get together and network and see if we can work this thing being overseas. I mean I dont pay the outrageous shipping but there is a saying is Guam called Hafia Adia (pronounced Halfa Day) and it means welcome but to all the military it means halfa day and that is all they work halfa day.LOL So it may take weeks if not months to get something. I ordered my son's some outfits from Walmart and by the time we got them the boys were already to big for them!

I dont know but maybe we can work this thing out. Any suggestions?????

I've used myus.com when I wanted to give my inlaws a break from shipping me stuff. But unlike my inlaws, they don't make an item as a gift. They have to declare the actual value. There shipping/fees is still rather steep. So for me, the best alternative has been to utilize my inlaws/bestfriend to send me stuff. I'll just order what I want online. Ship to them (they will in tax free areas), and they resend here to me as a gift.

Well when I was in the Army, I was deployed in 2006 - 2007 and I went from almost APL to ear length (had to cut it) b/c I didn't take care of my hair. So when I went home and my stylist got my hair back into shape, I took this contracting job and came back after being home for about 5 months. And once again, I saw my hair go from sugar to sh..... Sooo, I got fed up and started googling and decided that I"m not losing my hair again. I have my own room this time around so I have space for stuff. I even have a Pibbs dryer in my room. Yes, it's that serious. It costs me a little more money and time b/c of shipping, but it's been worth it.

I dunno I have used mail forwarding and it works wonders...or find a friend who has access to the military base and use their US Post Office box. (with their permission of course) I found that walmart/VS/target came really slow while old navy/amazon came fast. I get my mom to send a bunch of flat rate boxes crapped with stuff to my girlfriend who has a PO Box on the base near me, maybe once every 3 months, which helps.

Other thing is to stock up and pay the extra bag fee on the plane. Cheaper than shipping.

Also Victoria's Secret and Lands End have offices and shipping from within Japan. They do returns out of Nagoya I think. I get a lot of cute clothes at GFC Girl Fit Club, a chain store in Japan that stocks up to size 5L and also Nissen catalog's "Smileland" (pick it up at the 100yen shop or supermarket) has up to size 10L and cute plain tops, jeans, and shoes up to 28cm. Not expensive too. I use those resources.

Coldwater Creek, JCPenneys and others like iherb ship here. PM me for more info, a friend of mine hooked me up with all the shipping and company info for Japan.

oooop-I will definitely hit you up when we come out to Kobe! As for the fashion, Tokyo or Kanto fashion is really hit and miss. Some ppl look way fashionable others look a hot mess. I still don't get the super short shorts with uggs in the winter???!!!! But it is better than the mismatched bright tights with a lumberjack shirt and huge Mexican poncho on top.

I saw that when I was there. I order from jshoppers sometimes which sell smileland and nissin, but not to people in Japan (I don't think you can even see the site when you're in Japan).

I love some Japanese fashion, but some of those girls with those short skirts!! And they wear them in the winter! But many Japanese women look great.

Did you try www.curlmart.com? I believe they ship worldwide and they have Elucence. I'm not sure about the charges though. And they take Paypal.

i know this feeling all too well. I am bahamian..but did university in the states and got spoiled. now I'm back home...and it sucks. cause this is home and even if we do get some of the products, the mark-up is so high, I still choose to purchase online and pay for shipping and customs duty to come in the country!

we have trade secrets here lol and sallys and walmart lol jeez. If they don't have particular things wherever you are I think you have to do like someone said and just re-adjust yourself and go the natural route (like oils and stuff. You can find those anywhere). Who knows lol you may find the next bandwagon, some holy grail Guam super growth/thickening/relaxes curls naturally in one application but if you stop using it for a while your curls return/restores moisture-protein balance/stops breakage and shedding immediately product that only costs you like $5 US, but with shipping and all that we end up paying a ridiculous amount of money lol :eyebrows2

When I was in Brussels I was actually hapily surprised by the amount of black hair products I could find. Probably more than I get here in Trinidad. They had a black area called the Madou. Shops with products galore! I think my hair really thrived while I was there

Yeah quite a lot of Japanese ppl are obsessed with Black and Jamaican stuff so they have shops that stock them. The markup is crazy sometimes though, you can find deals like pure shea butter soap I get from the lil Japanese-Jamaican connection in my town. You gotta look though.
