I had half an avocado that needed to be used so I put it in a bowl with some real mayonaise and mashed them around together. I think I can put this is my hair...is there anything I should know? Anything helpful to add? Is mixing avocado and mayonaise a dumb idea? (I thought it could work, like a moisture protien dealie). Any quick suggestions would be helpful! And I mean quick...cuz fruit flies are hovering around the bowl even though its covered.

 @ the fruit flies!

I have nothing to add. Try it & give us a review.

Sent from my iPhone. It does EVERYTHING  ...except make calls :ohwell:

laughing so hard becaues to weeks ago i tried a banana smoothie mask. this shish was hard as heck to wash out. anywho the ingridients were avocodo, banana, olive oil and honey. i didnt have the avocodo so i just used the other ingredients. good luck

OP the title of this thread was funny but the description was hilarious!

the avacado and mayo are gonna be mostly protein so it will probably strengthen your hair. Just rinse really good, possibly co-wash the mixture out.

dont want the fruit flies after your strands :lachen:

mash it really well so you wont have any problems rinsing. in fact you might want to add a tiny bit of conditioner and some oil.

Ok so this stuff stinks. Fyi, hot mayonnaise is not awesome

Girl, you got me dyin' ova here!!! The title was already hilarious but your comments....:lachen: Woooo!

i love avocado mask. i do it at least once a month, but i use olive oil (although, next time i think i'll try mayo... although i dont know about the mayo smell...). just make sure you mix well, and really rinse it all the way out and follow with a moisturizing conditioner. how long are you going to leave it in?

put the avocado through a blender, otherwise the pieces are really hard to get out. You will be pulling strings out for days.

Puhleaaaase blend for sure! Lol I think you'll like it... My hair LOVES avocado, but I normally blend with olive oil and honey. Good luck and keep us posted!

Okay. So results. So first all, def didn't blend....and yeah.

1. Pulling out all types of strings. But its not terribly bad. Will def blend next time!

2. If you have dogs, putting them away while you spread a delicious mayonnaise on your hair treat would be wise...also, while rinsing it out putting them away would be good too, since dogs can jump into showers. :/.

3. You will smell like a sandwich, and not a yummy one.

4. Made my hair feel soft and strong, which I liked.

I will totally repeat this in a few weeks. my hair feels nice...not too crunchy from protein, not mushy either. I mixed safflower and castor oil in, about a teaspoon each. Might put more avocado next time and less mayo. I fell asleep with it on, so I probably left it in for like 2 hrs. Now I'm going to go to sleep with a deep moisturizing conditioner.

Too funny! I would suggest blending the banana, too. Mashed up banana, no blending=bad combination. You will be picking the pieces out for days.

I love conditioning with avocado. My last treatment, I used avocado, banana, honey, jojoba oil and heavy cream. Just enough cream for a thick, creamy consistency. This time I used my heating cap for 20 minutes. Great results. Like the mayonnaise idea.

Don't forget the chips next time (put a little dip aside for your hair celebration). Oh, and Your doggs look hungry, too...

oh em gee OP you are too funny! This thread keeps getting better. That pic with the dogs is funny. They are both looking longingly at the chip dip

I made a similar mix a couple of weeks ago and had a similar 'hungry' dog getting in my way. I used:
Avocado
Banana (big mistake not blending well!)
Olive oil
Mayo
Honey
An egg for good measure
My hair felt strong and soft after. It took just under a week to rinse n pick the bits out my hair.

Came back to this thread for a laugh. But, glad I did. I've been wanting to use avacodo but didn't know how. Thank, ladies, for all the recipes and the tip on blending. I was definitely skeptical after having banana pieces in my hair too. :ohwell:
