Bed Time Styles

I would like to know some of the hair styles you guys use to go to sleep in. I use to go to sleep with a bun or a pony tail tucked in, however, I noticed that when I woke up in the morning my hair was very dry. Until I saw this months hair model Zanna in which she talks about bantu knots. I thought I would give this a try, not for styling but for keeping my hair moist at night. And it works wonders. (thanks Zanna) I do not have to moisturize to often in the morning now, just my ends. This is a great remedy for me now. Are there any other ideas? I'm open for suggestions. God Bless!

I used to sleep in a loose braid or a bun. I never had the problem with dry hair in the morning. Do you have a cotton pillowcase? I heard that cotton sucks out all the moisture in your hair while you sleep.

if it's a while since my relaxer i'll sleep in bantu knots. they keep my hair moisturized and gives me a curly style that hides my newgrowth. after my relaxer i wear it in a high ponytail with the ends in 3 big magnetic rollers.

Yes, my pillow case is cotton, but I sleep in a satin scraf every night. Could that still be the case?

I do both...the scarf and the satin pillow case(on both pillows). I find this helps the scarf stay on better and if it comes off, I'm not worried about my hair.

i make a very loose ponytail right on top of my head. then i tuck the ends under, you could call it a VERY messy lose bun. but that's the most comfortable style to sleep in. how do you sleep with the bantu knots. aren't they all over your head and poking in your scalp when you lay your head down? i always have to be able to comfortable in every position i lay my head (you know, sideways, or if i sleep on my back or stomach). how do you guys do it??

nay

The bantu knots do not bother me when I sleep. I sleep mainly on my side. My hair is about 7 to 8 inches. If it were longer maybe they would bother me. For now they work for me.

i guess i've gotten used to them too. i usually sleep on my stomach or side, but once i'm sleep i'm in any position and to knocked out to feel a thing.

you make bantu knots like you would a bun (just twisting your hair around into a circle), but they're a whole bunch of little buns. i usually make 6 to 8 knots all over my head and fasten them in with bobbypins.

Those bantu knots do stick you in the head; to me they aren't the most comfortable thing you can do with your hair! The only way I can get a good nights sleep is if I either wrap my hair and tie it up with a scarf, or put my hair in a loose high ponytail. Last Friday night I had rollerset my hair and dried it under the dryer in rollers that were smaller than what I normally use, and I wanted the curls to be fresh for Saturday because I was going away for a few days... so I actually slept with the magnetic rollers in, and it was murder!! I was up every 2 hours for the whole night... Terrible...

, but my curls WERE bangin' on Saturday morning!!!

My fav sleeping style is a high loose ponytail, secured with a satin scrunchy. I roll the "tail" around my fingers, up to the scrunchy and wrap another scrunchy around the rolled tail hair. I put on my satin bonnet then it's off to bed! When I take the hair down, I have loose flowing moisturized curls.

Half of the month I sleep in 2 or 3 braids (when maintaining air dry braid outs) and the other half I wrap (when maintaining rollarset hair).

Either way, I sleep with my silk scarf.

I like to make a braid at the base of my head, then pin it up with a hair clip, being careful not to snag any hair with it.

I used to sleep in loose ponytails, but since my hair is always in a ponytail, Istopped doing that. I just bend my head forward, so the length comes towards my forehead and then I tie the scarf on. I guess I'll have to find another way once my hair grows out some more

Oooooh! That sounds interesting ... I'll have to try that.

I wrap my hair and sleep in one of those stretchy skull caps. They're excellent for holding down a wrap -- they never slip and they're not so tight that they leave a mark on your forehead.

I gather my shoulder-length hair and make a single plait at the base of my neck and then I pin it up with a single plastic hairpin. I usually wear my hair in a french roll or a bun, so this works fine for me. I think it will also work when I eventually get my caruso rollers!

i take the fonytail off, but i leave the stocking and stuff on my bun. then i put my Maverick wrap around my head. daviine made me get it!!

of course the curl activator makes it slip and slide. so i put 4 flat clips all around to keep it on.

Bump. I wanted to start a thread on this subject but I found this one. My style right now is kind of boring. I moisturize my ends then put my hair in a very loose bun. I tie it down with a satin scarf. I would like to know of more styles to wear to bed.

well for my bed time routine i cornrow my hair ut instead of braiding it i flat twist it. when i take it out in the morning my hair is straight curls... kind of like that pic of tracy ellis ross
