Ok I think I'm gonna give up on my beloved Dominican's *Sigh*

I went the other day and first off they went off on me for having permanent color . I was already through cuz I forgot my shampoo, deep conditioner and leave in conditioner and had to rely on their stuff...another HUGE no-no for me. The girl who washed my hair must have had a bad day or something and damn near rubbed my scalp raw. Then the girl who did my rollerset had a extra small tooth comb and was combing my hair out from the roots and blamed it on my color.....only the front of my hair was colored so when she was combing my hair out of my damn head from the back of my head and said "mami permanent color is noooo good and your hair falling out" I knew I was through. I am cutting down my dominican doobie visits down drastically ( once a month cuz I usually go once a week).

Ladies all I ever do do my hair is wash, deep conditioning and rollersetting.....anyone else who has a similar reg please let me know how you do your hair. I can get the rollers in my head very well but when it comes out fo the rollers it looks nothing like i want it to :nono:.

Thanks in Advance!

No advice, but I hope someone else can come along to help. DIYing can take longer, but I find that it's rewarding to see my hair do well and know it's all b/c of me.

Sweetheart, I have been there and I understand your pain. I am rooting for you to do everything yourself! You know your hair better than anyone else in the world. Good luck to you and I am cheering you on!

I had a similar experience at my local Domincan salon in April that left me with a lot of breakage at my temples from the blowfrying. The first stylist was very rough with my hair when trying to rollerset. I'm transitioning so there was at least 14 weeks of new growth and she tried to use a rat tail comb. She handed me off to another stylist who I later learned is natural although she had a pin straight bob. She was much better with my rollerset. I had my own products (poo, deep conditioner & leave-in) but I forgot my heat protectant :nono::nono::nono:. I chanced it since I only had my "roots" blown out. After I noticed the breakage, I vowed to only go back for sets & no more "blowing out the roots".

I am a rollersetter & I also do silk wraps (saran wrap) and have found that it flattens out my roots with no need for direct heat. I also reverse roll my hair (roll hair forward/upward). Only the Domincan salon get my hair straight with only rollers though. Probaly any salon or an assistant at all to do the back of my head would help me get similar results at home.

Feel free to check out my fotki albums. Once in a while I try a braid out too.

Are you letting it dry all the way? I only have this problem when I take out the rollers beforemy hair is completely dry. To prevent it once I think my hair is dry I stay under the dryer for an extra 20 minutes just to make sure. Then I get the silky bouncy curls like in the salon. HTH.

I think I will stay under my dryer an extra 30 mins this time around lol. Thanks for your help

Thanks everyone for your kind words :yep:

Reg's Wife Im gonna check out your foki right now. I want to try that saran wrap thing tonight too....hopefully I can sneak some saran wrap from my moms kitchen later on tonight. Thank god its late or else I'd have a lot of explaining to do about "wasting her good saran wrap on my hair "

I'm the same way. I used to go to the Dominican salon every two weeks because I thought my hair would grow and I loved how light and straight they got it. But after a while, I realized that my hair was staying at the same length (grazing my shoulders) and in some areas it was breaking off. That's when I started looking on the Internet to find out ways to do my own hair...and I stumbled on LHCF. Since I've been here, I've probably been to the Dominican salon about 3 times. And my hair is now just below BSL. I've saved so much money, and my styles are getting better and better. Just commit to the fact that you're going to start doing your hair yourself and do it. In no time, it will look just as good as the salon...if not better.
