I just got my hair cut and I want to keep my ends in the best shape possible. What do I need to do to keep them super healthy? Especially at night...tie the hair up? Baggy? Moisturize? What products? And how often should I apply?

I want my hair to grow like crazy between now and the end of June - I'm on my own personal little challenge. Please let me know what's worked best for you?

Prior to this, I was applying some sort of conditioner (AO or Jojoba Oil) nightly and sometimes in the daytime. My ends seemed pretty healthy (I hadn't gotten them cut since July '06 - aside from S&D missions.)

But since I'm starting fresh, please let me know what's worked best for you! Yes, tell me what to do. :)

The best thing I could have done after cutting dead/split ends was minimal to no heat from that point on. I've retained alot better omitting blow-drying. I airdry in a wrap, then flat-iron two times a month, bi-weekly. And I lightly apply a moisturizer then seal with oil on the ends almost daily and just wrap and wear or do pin curls and dry rollersets in between washes. HTH!

No heat, No heat , and can I say it again? No heat!! I also baggy 3 to 4 nights a week in a pony tail... jamaican black castor oil works wonders!!:)

I agree with low/no heat. What I do is i moisturize and seal my hair. Then I add some kind of grease right now im using Hollywood Beauty Castor Oil Treatment to the last 2-3 inches of my hair. This has helped keep my ends in really good shape with minimal breakage.

in order to get alot of growth like you want, you need to work on the inside and outside, so I would start with a good multi vitamin, make sure and eat your proteins etc, stay away from excessive heat, keep your ends moisturize and protected, you could also incooperate some scalp massages with jojoba because it's closest to our scalp sebum, and less manipulation, so bunning would probably work for you hth, happy growing chica:)

Protective styles only on the Hide Your Hair challenge helped me keep my ends in tact for a lot longer than I expected. I'm due for a trim, but I went a good 5 months w/o a trim even though my ends were (actually still are) overprocessed.

Castor oil has worked wonders on my ends. It really helps keep them from splitting. I usually moisturize w/ heavy cream and seal w/ castor oil on the ends then bun and tie up. This along with not using direct heat has completely turned my hair around for the better.

I use Home Health cold pressed castor oil from the vitamin shoppe. It is a 16 fl oz bottle for like $7.00, it is worth way more than it cost in my eyes. If there is not a store by you can order it online from them. Hope this helps.

This helps a lot! Thanks!

Castor oil can be really really sticky I use it on wet or dry hair because I have experienced the benefits and I really don't care how sticky my hair is......but for beginners I would use it on wet hair only, If you use it on dry hair it might turn you off unless you use a very small amount.

It is so funny because I kept posting threads about my split and dry ends...and no matter what I did I had split ends until I have found castor oil.....now it is rare...extremely rare that I find a split end. I haven't had a trim or dusting since october 06. It wasn't intentional but I just didn't need one.

At night, I swear by moisturizing and detangling my hair with Africa's Best Liquid Mayo leave-in then sealing with JBCO before setting my hair in a twistout. This is a winning combo.

In the a.m. before bunning sometimes I'll use some AO Honeysuckle Rose or Hollywood Beauty Carrot oil. Aveda USC if I am wearing my hair out. :)

i'm sold on the castor oil...that seems to be working wonders with everyone. and of course, no or low heat. i'll look into the profectiv...and of course, being a product junkie, i have AO Honeysuckle Rose (luv it!!!) so i'll try doing that too. I'm willing to try anything right now to keep my ends in shape.

When you all say you "SEAL" the hair....do you mean, you apply the one product to your ends and the product you "seal" with is what you put on top after you've applied original conditioner? (i should know this.)
