be honest-how do you wear your hair to bed

I'm cracking up because i can totally relate. /images/graemlins/laugh.gif You should have seen me Monday when I left my silk scarf at home. I was holding my hair to the left ALL day at work just so it would not touch. I just could NOT let it happen. /images/graemlins/naughty.gif

I put a silk bonnet on my hair FOLLOWED by a stocking cap and I KNOW I look BAAAADDDDD. The stocking cap keeps the silk bonnet from falling off my hair at night...

In a few months, I'll be crying about my hair on the board but right now basically nothing. I wrap my hair before I go to bed and then put my silk scarf on or silk bonnet on but one of three things usuallly happens:

1. My head starts itching and then I take it off (not sure why though I think it has to do with the wrapping somehow and my mystery scalp condition)

2. My head starts sweating like crazy and I rip it off---I live in a building and the apartment feels like a heat wave in the summer lately--I can't even sleep--I try sleeping with just underwear and the silk scarf/bonnet----still too much sometimes

3. It falls off while I'm sleeping. I usually put a stocking cap to secure it but with the above two complaints that just makes it worse.

Hopefully my satin pillowcase will be my saving grace. /images/graemlins/ohwell.gif

But when the first two things happen, can you believe I don't sleep well? In my sleep I worry about if I'm damaging my hair too much and hoping I'm still on the satin pillowcase... /images/graemlins/blush.gif

For the past 2 years I have been wearing my silk scarf to bed. The man in my life will get up out of bed and get the scarf for me when I am too tired to get up to get it. He has even packed it in my bag when we go on trips together. His thing is "You have come too far with this hair thing to stop now. Wrap up!" He's a blessing and a pain in the butt! /images/graemlins/kiss2.gif

Now that's what I call a supportive man! I LOVE IT! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

Hi Allandra! /images/graemlins/bouncy.gif

Hairfanatic-Yah, he's a sweetie! /images/graemlins/laugh.gif

fletgee, that's the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time. He sounds like a keeper! /images/graemlins/smile.gif

If I'm sporting straight hair, I wrap and secure w/ a satin scarf. If curly, I pin the sides up and secure w/ a bonnet. I try to make an effort and switch up the direction I wrap. I'm still trying to balance securing the scarf tight enough to stay on w/ but also keeping headaches at bay.

I hear you Fletgee. Your man sounds like mine. When he moved to his new apartment, he was like, "Don't forget to give me a couple of your hair scarves, so they'll be here when you need them." I was so shocked. But I break 'em in early. If I'm serious about someone, they are introduced to my scarves from the get go!! But I think I look cute in my scarf. My man says I look like a gypsie! /images/graemlins/nuts.gif

I slick my hair back at night and then tie a scarf around it. I have nice smooth edges in the morning for my bun.

Now, don't forget your scarves and bonnets tonight! /images/graemlins/whyme.gif

I do the same thing! Whenever someone asks me why I got that scarf on, I'm like, "would you rather me look cute going to sleep and jacked up on the way out the door or vice versa?" That usually nips it in the bud right there.

I am infamous for my blue do-rag. I've had it since I was a freshman in college...almost 6 years now. I wear it to bed and whenever I'm lying around the house on the couch. Anyone who knows me...knows my do-rag. I bought a new one this past summer when I went out of town and forgot it, when I came back I kicked the new one to the curb

I always sleep in it...unless I have rollers in my hair, I use a silk scarf because the rollers don't fit under the do-rag.

I wear a bun to bed (If I just washed my hair, I wear the bantu knots) with a scarf, a coton scarf because the silk ones slip off my hair very fast, then the bun gets loose

: bad, very bad!(I toss and turn a lot when I sleep).

Sounds like everyone here is relaxed. Are there any naturals that wear satin to sleep ? My hair is very short. So every night I spray water and put conditioner in may hair and then wear a plastic cap to bed to keep the moisture in. I s this a bad thing ?

lol...I probably answered this before but I typically clip my hair on top of my head and wear my satin scarf. Or if I'm doing a braidout, I have braids with my rollers on the ends hanging outside of my scarf.

I do the same thing.

I sleep in a satin pillowcase and I put my hair in 2 ponytails twisted without rubberbands.

I wear my hair wrapped with a satin scarf tied over it. Sometimes I'll wear a satin bonnet but I prefer the scarf.

I sleep with my hair in a bun w/a silk scarf on top, when I roll at night I use a stocking cap to hold rollers in place and sometimes I sleep w/o anything for that wild big hair look the next day.
