Be honest, are you really happy with your hair right now?

Yes, I am pleasantly surprised actually. I'm trying not to focus tooo much on it these days though, because I can see myself over doing things that I shouldn't and I don't want anything to go wrong and have any set backs.

:nono::nono: Nope. I am trying to grow my hair out asap and I am so sick of wearing my hair in a bun. I can't wait until I reach my goal. I have three inches to go. I want telaxed jet black full bsl hair. I hope to be there by November.

I am happy with my hair. I had to come to the realization that if I took care of it and was really gentle, it responded positively by growing, thickening and being strong. I can certainly tell when something I am doing does not mesh with my hair, because it will respond negatively. Once I learned what felt good to it, we became the best of friends and are now walking in agreement.

Moonxyz, shea butter doesn't make a good moisturizer if your hair is dehyrated. the #1 ingredient should be water followed by anything else.

try to put together a nice water based moisturizer. find a spray bottle and add to it a couple tablespoons of a non-silicone conditioner (try suave, vo5 or nature's gate) and perhaps a couple tablespoons of veggie glycerin. start simple, later on you can add other things like an oil.

use this in the morning then again at night before you go to bed.

also try a deep conditioner like lustrasilk (the orange one) or lekair (the green one), aubrey organics honeysuckle rose. even elasta qp dpr-11 and ors replenishing packs make for good conditioners too.

when and if you need a protein cond. then use something very mild like aubrey's GPB - it will not leave your hair dry.

for a good way to jump start your moisture levels, next time you wash your hair and deep condition it, leave the conditioner in your hair overnight with a showercap.

it may take a week or 2 (maybe 3) to see an improvement so you're going to have to stay ontop of your moisturizing game - don't forget to do it or get lazy.

Thanks alot for the advice . i'll try and see how it goes :yep:

yes! I'm really enjoying my hair right now!

Learning how to rollerset, and having damaged ends clipped has helped alot!!:yep:

I'm still working on shedding issues, and trying to get my edges in order--- however trying various products, and finding a couple of staple products has been beneficial!

And being that my hair is a lot shorter now, I'm having fun with different headbands!

I am happy with the health and thickness of my hair. I was looking at old pictures last night and my hair is basically the same length it was in Sept. 2006. It got me a little depressed, but I am determined to leave my hair alone and let it grow. No more unnecessary trims, and less heat. My hair is prone to split ends, if I look at it the wrong way I get a headful of them. Hopefully I will get a nice growth spurt this summer...and very few split ends.

I'm transitioning in braids right now so it's kinda difficult to see everything that's happening. It's been almost 4 weeks and there's some new growth, but not as much as I hoped to see (especially after having a good progress the previous month).

I'm happy with it's overall health and stuff, but I think I'm becoming a hair anorexic :ohwell:. I'm grateful and Lord knows I'm not complaining, I just feel like it's not long enough yet. I only want MBL (1" or so to go), but I just wonder if I'll be satisfied...

I have good days and bad days, but today is a relatively good day. I’m about 1 ½ months into my hair journey and I’m optimistic about making the most of what I have. My hair is dry, 4a (mostly), and rebounding from some breakage that occurred last year. Now that I’m learning more about hair care, I’m looking forward to maximizing my hair’s potential and avoiding the mistakes that caused problems in the first place. :)

First, let me start off by :bighug: because I ALWAYS do what you stated in bold. This forum is the first place I've done this in a constructive way. Seeing the beautiful heads of hair on this board motivate me to improve upon what I already have instead of tearing myself down and asking "why me".

IMO, the main way not being happy with your hair keeps it from growing is that you get in a rut and focus on what's wrong instead of doing what you can to make it right (at least, that's what happens with me). Also (with me, any way), when you notice damage and breakage, you're constantly examining and pulling at it, which could cause fragile hair to break more. Plus, when your frustrated and unhappy with your hair, you're less likely to feel motivated to do the things necessary to fix it.

Stay positive because this really is a work in progress and things WILL get better!!! :yep:

Thanks MDLady :)

Deep down I know if i stopped obsessing over it so much, it will flourish in time but it's so hard. I just need to be patient.

I am VERY HAPPY today. I feel like I finally found a winning strategy for washing, conditioning and preparing it. I like the softness of my twists and the fact they look so smooth with the Mango Butter. I like this length, past collarbone, because my hair has never been this long in my life! I like being able to twist it up and secure it with a pin. Just wish I knew what to do 30 years ago and has started when I had thicker non-greying hair. Jeve

Congrats on your progress, and Mango Butter ain't nothin but the truth!

I'm sorry to hear you're not happy. I didn't read thru this whole post but if you get yourself some OCT or Megatek (can't vouch for the Megatek because I'm only using OCT but I hear it's the same), you will be in LOOOOOOOVE with your hair.

I am, but I'm gonna have to find someone to take pictures for me because I know seeing is believing on here and somebody needs to see what OCT has done for me.
