Is it best to base the scalp the:

night before a touch-up

or

day of a touch- up

Umm....:scratchch

How do you base the scalp? What do you use?

Personally I have only based my scalp the day of....so I cant really tell u if the day before or doing them both methods work better or not.....I know that whateva I decide to do it have to be based w/ a petrolium based product. My scalp burns alot less sooner w/ them type of basing products. :yep:

I voted both, but what I actually do is base after last shampoo (about 4 days before relaxer) and then base again before the relaxer.

I use Blue Magic's conditioning formula. (The green one.)

I vote day of. I don't want to take a chance on my scalp absorbing any of the coating if I do it too soon.

I would the night before the the touch up, especially when I was going to the salon, because they sure weren't going to.

Also, I would just use vaseline and if I had been scratching I would base atleast 2 or 3 days prior with DAX. That stuff heals the scalp very quickly!

I always base right before applying a relaxer. The protective base is most effective when it provides a barrier between the scalp and the chemical, so I'm not convinced that basing the night before makes much of a difference because your scalp would absorb the oils overnight. But overall, do whatever gives you peace of mind.
