BARE MINIMUM Time to Wait Before Corrective...

My hair is not underprocessed... it is positively UNPROCESSED.

I wanted my hair to look good for Christmas and New Years without the need for heat.. that simply will not happen :(

I went to a white salon in my hometown with my trusted Motions Mild Relaxer. The front came out OKAY because I was adamant that she used lots of perm. The back, now that it has airdried is positively coily, I see no difference from the hair I left the house with this morning.

I have thick, strong, resilient hair that is not prone to breakage. Honestly, I feel like slapping the leftover perm in my hair right now, but I'm sure that's not a good idea... *sigh*

6 weeks....

You should probably listen to this but...

I have done it as soon as the next day with no ill effects. I do not have hair that is prone to breakage at all either. I just make sure I follow with a pretty good protein treatment. But like I say, I tend to live on the edge at times and am OCD about my hair being straight. I feel at times I walk a dangerous edge by doing these sorts of things.

I've done it in 2 or 3 weeks. But most time by the time you get that far, you can see the light at the end of the tunnel and just try to go as far as you can.

I woul dnot wait a long time if it is grossly underprocessed though. I have done touchups and the relaxer DID NOTHING. It was like I just applied some conditioner and that's it. I relaxed again after 2 weeks with another product and it was fine.

Awww honey i know the feeling.
The same thing happened to me recently, and now i can't even jazz my hair up like i was hoping to for the holidays.
It's back to braids for me.
I mean, even after an attempt at doing a corrective my stuff is still coily.
So what are you going to do with it in the mean time?
I'm asking because i really need some tips.
I've just been scarfing it up because it takes a lot of heat to get the textures evened out,and that's just too much for my hair right now.

I just re read your post. Motions is crap. And it totally jacked my hair up beyond repair as a teenager because it left my hair underprocessed. You should find another stylist that uses a quality relaxer. Have you thought about Affirm or Mizani?

So you ladies know I'm crazy right?

I sat around for a few minutes, but wasn't patient enough to wait for responses.

When I showed my sister my hair, she was like... you PAID for your hair to look like that?! LMAO... honestly, it was as if I had slathered my strands with mayonnaise for all the relaxing it did. That was the last straw!

Sooo.... half and hour ago with the help of my sister I re-relaxed the back. I'm sitting here under the dryer with some Motions CPR, my hair loves this stuff. I'm optimistic that my hair is gonna look good, and stay on my head :yep:

I'll let you know...

Yea... I agree Motions isn't the greatest. My regular stylist in Toronto uses either Mizani or Affirm.

Problem is I'm home at the moment in a predominantly white community, with all white stylists and it's either Motions or a No-lye boxed perm from the mall :nono:

I actually don't mind Motions though, because I don't like my hair to be fully relaxed, just texlaxed I guess. For hair as thick and resistant as mine I probably should have used the regular, but I'm way more scared of overprocessing then under, so I got the mild.

I am glad that I was not the only one that had problems with Motions. It just did NOTHING to my hair. I was buggin out after I rinsed that stuff out - nothing changed! Same NG!

KiSseS03, you could try ordering nicer relaxers online.

I do not like Motions Relaxer. I used one about 20 weeks ago. It sucked. My hair felt kind of hard and not silky. Also, in a few weeks it felt like I needed another relaxer. I wasn't able to stretch as long as I would've liked. I went 8 weeks but it was a hard 8 weeks. No pun intended.

Wow... I can't believe so many people have had bad experiences with Motions. I guess it really was the problem. It's back to Mizani or Affirm after this experience for sure.

I say if your hair is fine and is not strong as a rope like some of the ladies here I say beware!! I had a misshap and I am starting over as a result...

Good luck!!

Is this your first relaxer after being natural for so long? If so, your hair is probably in shock. If motions is that weak, your hair may be just fighting the relaxer. I really hope all works out well for you.

WOW, NL, your hair may be resistant to relaxers due to the BT. Sulfur based products like MTG make my hair look like it never got relaxed. Since I haven't used any growth products this month, I barely have any reversion at all. Why not twist your hair up for a few weeks and wait it out.
