Bantu knots for longer hair?

I was thinking of getting bantu knots as a cute little fun style when the weather warms up again. But, I have past bra-strap hair that I don't want ruined, so I have few questions about it. Can that kind of style be done on someone that has a lot of hair? Also, does the style require a lot of tugging and pulling? I really like low-maintenance styles that don't require much manipulation.(I wear cornrows a lot) But, I don't want to sacrifice any health or length trying to do a style that will put too much stress on my hair. TIA!

Check out southerngirl's album. She does a bantu knot set (hair is bra strap and THICK) that's to die for. Even gives a detailed "how to" .

Look at Bayougirl's pincurls, which are essentially looser bantus, her hair is about bra strap length and it workd fine. It doesn't require a lot of tugging or pulling just a lil twisting and IMO less manipulation than cornrows.

this is a pic of when i had bantu knots on natural hair past bra-strap, IMHO, its healthy style no excess pulling at all. my friend did this on my hair, when i took them down i had a really nice deep wave set.

Wow, Den1 they look great! How long did you leave them in before you took them out? Also, did you feel like they seemed a bit juvenile at all? I don't work in a professional environment, so that isn't really a concern. But, I am a little concerned about looking ridiculous, lol.

I must admitt i didn't keep them in long--ONE WEEK--lol, i remember going to training for a job, and this white employee (man) said its not suitable to wear bantu, extensions or dreadlocks, because white customers may feel intimated. I felt so uncomfortable about what he said, i never wore them again until this day, but you have to adapt to professional codes and conventions.

Glad you like my knots. I've never worn them as a style, just to do the pincurls. You just gave me a neat new idea!!!

Luv ya,

SG

My younger sister use to wear them as a style... she'd do like 20 on her head and she'd rock it for about a week. When she took them down, her hair was sickening that's how gorgeous her waves looked. /images/graemlins/love.gif
